I have had the privilege of being a student at Atelier Art Studio for almost a year now and have been consistently impressed with the studio, classes and educational opportunities provided. Todd, the owner is more than just an art teacher- he really has brought a community of people of all ages together who are united by a love of art and creativity. I have participated in several art classes across the Metro Detroit area and without question, Todd's studio is unparalleled in terms of an open and communicative environment. I enjoy painting and speaking with individuals of all ages- from high schoolers to retirees. Age and experience is no barrier at Atelier and I recommend this place for anyone looking to develop technique, enhance their skills, and become more familiarized about painting history and various forms of art (oils, acrylics, pastel, drawing etc). If you are a working professional, have family obligations or just in general are busy with commitments, this place has a very flexible schedule and is accommodating to your schedule. I will say, I was quite intimidated by the skill level that every student seemed to possess the first time I walked into the studio, however I quickly learned how talented Todd and the staff is at breaking down the steps at how to create a realistic painting. Techniques including color theory and underpainting were all new to me and I have been able to integrate the lessons I have learned at Atelier into my own style of painting that I do at home. I was part of a group of 4 artist friends who were searching for a venue to have an art show and sale. When we found Atelier School of Art we knew it was the perfect solution for us! What we did not expect was the absolutely warm and wonderful welcome we received from Ashley Murawa and Todd Burroughs, manager and owner. They welcomed us warmly and were on hand to answer any questions we had. During the week of installing the show, Ashley was there tirelessly working to hang the paintings on this Ingenius track of hooks, leveling everything as she went. With multiple people asking for Ashley's attention and advice she kept calm and got everything accomplished with time to spare. The night of our preview event Ashley was there to give us tips and help assemble the food. Todd and Ashley were on hand to graciously greet our guests adding that air of professionalism to the event! Hello, Since the beginning of this year I’ve been taking Oil Painting classes with Todd Burroughs at Atelier School of Art and it has been an amazing artistic experience. Todd is not only a fantastic Fine Artist but he is also the kindest, funniest and the greatest Art Teacher. The atmosphere in Todd’s class is full of creativity and joy between each art student (we also have fun choosing music so we create a perfect mood for painting). His way of approaching Art and his knowledge about Oil Painting is been a learning process for me, not only I re-learned to paint with Oil but I also learned how to do the transition between dark and light smoothly..
