I am reviewing the Royal Oak Farmers Market as a wedding reception venue only. My nephew and his new wife were married here recently. Parking was a little tight at the beginning until the sponsor informed us where to park without having to pay. And when they say the reception starts at 5:30, they don't mean 5:28. They mean 5:30, and they don't care if you're standing in the rain. Because we were. So, for all of that they get 2 stars The appetizers were above average good, and full of flavor. Main course meals were outstanding, 5 stars here. The only complaint being there was a single serving line for 160+ people, which took one hour and 22 minutes for the last person to walk through the line. Back to 2 stars. Yeah, and my table was last. (Good news! I got extra meat!) Acoustics were below average as this rectangular "pole barn type" building was not intended for loud reception music. However, that's a minor complaint given I probably need hearing aids. The temperature inside was absolutely perfect, given it was only about 70° outside when the reception started. I can imagine that if it were 90° out, it could have been a little toasty inside. All in all, I enjoyed myself despite my little complaints, although I would probably not choose this location for my...
Read moreThis is for the Flea Market on Sunday. It's been years since I've visited and I was hoping that things had gotten better. Well... the quality seems a little better, but the prices are ridiculous for a "flea" market. There were a number of sellers that were asking $20 - $40 for Vinyl's. I would understand at a antique/vintage sale, but Flea Market, yeah, NO. There were also some items that were very racially insensitive and really offensive. At one of the places I purchased some vintage broches, I felt that the owner/s were trying to upsell things by quoting what things went for online. Interested in why they kept mentioning the selling price online, I started to look it up and they were definitely inflating the prices, and not by a few dollars. I was really disappointed because you could clearly tell the lack of quality of them just by picking them up. Biggest thing is, JUST PUT PRICES ON YOUR ITEMS! Why is this so hard for most of...
Read moreI like the Royal Oak Farmers Market. There is plenty of parking here. It is relatively easy to get to. They have a nice variety of shops inside and I enjoy visiting them all when I am there.
Their special events are done very well and allow for large crowds without feeling cramped. It is not only a great attraction in Royal Oak itâs a good model for other communities as well. Centrally located, priced moderately even for special events and a spacious, safe venue for families and friends.
Some of the larger events I attended here also included the parking lot which was a nice addition. Plenty of space and great vendors. They usually have snacks inside but not all the time. Their choices at the snack bar could be a bit more healthy but they are fine. There is a small area where you can sit at a table to eat what you buy or any food you have brought with you. My favorite store here is âDirty Girlâ. ...
