1 UP Retro is an absolute gem for retro video game enthusiasts and nostalgic gamers like myself. Stepping into this store was like taking a trip down memory lane, and I had an amazing experience exploring their collection of vintage video game consoles. It's not just a store; it feels like a mini museum, preserving the history of gaming for future generations.
What sets 1 UP apart is its comprehensive range of gaming consoles from the past, including PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360, Nintendo 64, SNES, NES, DS, GameBoy, and more. For someone like me who grew up with these classics, it's a paradise. They also cater to modern gamers with titles and consoles like Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
The staff at 1 Up Retro deserves a special mention. Their customer service is exceptional. They are knowledgeable about their products and are always ready to assist customers with a friendly attitude. It's evident that they are passionate about gaming and eager to share their expertise.
As a member of the gaming community, I sincerely hope that 1 UP Retro continues to thrive and expand. I'd love to see a branch in Downtown Sacramento, as it would undoubtedly bring joy to even more gamers in the area. 1 UP Retro is more than just a store; it's a haven for gamers of all ages. Whether you're looking to relive your childhood memories or discover the roots of modern gaming, this place has it all. I highly recommend 1 UP Retro to anyone with an appreciation for video game history...
Read moreAs a customer, since it’s opening on its first day, watching it grow into a staple and part of the community in Midtown Sacramento. It’s super cool. I’m not quite sure if it’s the owner. I interact with every time I’m in there, but my son always has plenty of questions, he is always so excited to go and hang out there. Both gentlemen that my son is interacted with have been kind and patient, and we were just there yesterday and they were extraordinarily busy and my son wanted to talk about his retro gaming collection and the gentleman was so interested in what he had to say and it made my heart happy to see my son engaging with people. As a mother of a child with autism I have to say thank you very much. It’s nice To know that when he’s in your store, he will not be made fun of and his business is appreciated in his enthusiasm for gaming is met with your great enthusiasm. Side note, I purchased a game that was not compatible with my consul and they just exchanged it. No questions asked it was really really cool. Another thing on a financial note they have a customer appreciation sign-up and the points don’t expire and that’s a big help if we don’t make it in time, another thing so if you break something they can typically fix it or replace the parts It’s not just a fun place. It’s actually a legit business to help keep your investment...
Read moreThis store is one of the best retro game stores I've been to! I went there a couple weeks after they opened and they had a great selection of games for just about every era and every system. I bought a Game Boy Advance, a Japanese version of F-Zero for the GBA, a copy of Link's Awakening, and a Japanese version of Super Mario 64 still in the box! When I got home, however, I couldn't get F-Zero to run on the GBA I had just bought. Link's Awakening worked, but the next time I played it all my save data was gone! I went back to the store and the owner replaced the battery in Link's Awakening so my progress could be saved again, and he cleaned F-Zero and the GBA so that it could play it. Super friendly guy, and he got everything working again quickly, but it's pretty bad that he sold me products that weren't fully operational. It was clear that the products weren't tested very well, but I hope now that they've been open for longer they do a better job making sure everything they carry actually works. Long story short, I would still come back due to the vast selection and friendliness of the staff. Their products are reasonably priced too, so that's...
