Finally, A church where Christ is exalted thru song and the Bible is preached and taught in it's expository true fashion !!!!! From the front door to my seat I was greeted with true brotherly love and kindness. I left feeling a sense that I truly had heard God's word proclaimed with no fluff, no entertainment or anecdotal stories. I moved into the midtown area almost 5 years ago and was attending a church out in the elk Grove area. 2 years ago I sold my vehicle. Then the pandemic hit. After restrictions were lifted I was left with a decision on where to attend church. Through prayer and research the Lord led me to Immanuel Baptist Church. I listened on YouTube to get the gist of the teaching and I was totally uplifted challenged and convicted all at the same time. That is what the word of God does in the hearts and minds of those who worship him. I was a bit nervous going this past Sunday because I didn't know anybody but yet I did because this is my family in Christ! I do believe the Lord has led me to my new church home. If you know Christ and are seeking a healthy place to worship check them out on YouTube and then come in person and be loved on by the body of Christ. If you are not known by the Lord here is your opportunity to come before him seek his forgiveness for your sin and be transformed by the renewing of your mind through word, song and fellowship with those who adore and exalt Christ. PS: there are no perfect churches, but there are churches where The Lord Christ Jesus is exalted and his people strive to bring him the glory that only...
Read moreSermons are good, people are friendly, but the longer my wife and I went, the longer we realized that the pastoral staff doesn't have any people skills, they don't actually care about their members, they consider going to one Sunday service and a Bible study as not going to church and having sketchy attendance. They are very legalistic and believe a perfectly structured church and fitting everyone into the same spiritual cookie cutter is what saves people and constitutes a healthy church. It's scary that in the church setting, there's no individuality and everyone is a robot and says the same things. Also, the pastoral staff will remember every little thing you have done 'wrong' and not help you with it, but bring it up over a year later and use it against you. This is a fine church to visit, but don't get sucked in and become a member. If you do end up going, don't bring up any issues you might have, whether it's your own sin/struggles or it's issues you have with the church. You will...
Read moreI attended IBC for years in early 2010s so please take my review as something that comes from personal experience. This church abused and maligned my family members and only reflected the love of Christ on those with similar traditional and political views as their own; very pushy and controlling leadership that instills their political agendas on their congregants. I would not bring your children or loved ones here as they will emotionally and spiritually abuse you and them if you dissent in any way. Leadership has a god complex, intellectualize spirituality until there is no room for healthy emotional life, and are deeply misogynistic. While they know how to put on pretty words, their intentions are quickly made clear when you approach them with feedback, and their defensiveness shows a hatred toward you as if you are some demon sent to attack them and...
