Without a doubt one of the best spots to get vegan cuisine. To start off with, Veg is located on the second floor of an old Victorian. Entering the restaurant feels like you are coming to some secret exclusive casual yet swanky restaurant that only the cool people know about. The decor is rustic, modern and incredibly laid back. The staff is very welcoming and non intrusive. Upon entering, we were handed menus and told, "Have a seat wherever it feels right and we'll be right over." After finding the the corner table surrounded by windows overlooking 25th and J Streets, our server came right over to see what we would like and answer our questions. The service here was patient, friendly, helpful and just kind of felt like you were being entertained at a good friends house. Their menu is very well thought out and the techniques and flavor combinations were surprising and very pleasing. To drink we tried the Seasonal Mint Fresca which is a combination of kombucha, watermelon and mint. It was very refreshing. My only complaint about the drink was that the fresh mint and watermelon chunks like to clog up the straw, which is my offhanded way of pointing out that they used fresh mint and watermelon to make this amazing drink. We also drank their lemon infused water out of porcelain cups. As for the food, we order 3 items; the Chips and Ginger Guacamole, Mixed Pakora and the Savory Summer Crepe. Everything came packed with fresh ingredients, exciting unique flavor combinations and presented with beautiful care. The Chips were made from sweet potatoes and lightly seasoned with curry seasoning. The guacamole had lemon and cilantro mixed in. The chips and guac were tasty by themselves, but together they were amazing. The mixed Pakora had a good variety of fried vegetables and a delicious tomato based chutney that my daughter seemed unable to get enough of. The Summer Crepe was packed with fresh lightly cooked but still crisp vegetables from mushroom, corn, and asparagus to rainbow carrots, kale and bean sprouts. The crepe was served with a light sweet chili vinaigrette. As with everything here, the crepe was delicious, but when drizzled with the vinaigrette, it was elevated to yet another level. I just can't say enough good things about this restaurant, the staff and the wonderful location. I will definitely be returning many times and give it my wholehearted recommendation for others to enjoy whether you are vegan or not.

This is the first time I've ever tried an impossible burger, and I'm so glad this was the first place I tried it! We ordered both the Wild West and Far East impossible burgers. Both were excellent but I slightly liked the Wild West one better. The flavor was amazing and the patty was not too dry, it was actually moist and very flavorful. It's hard to describe, but the texture is just like a regular burger without it tasting too salty or oily/greasy. My husband said he would even choose to order the impossible burger over a regular burger! We also had the sweet potato fries and vegan donut, both were delicious. Just FYI for those who are watching their fat or calorie intake, just because the impossible burger is vegan doesnt mean its necessarily healthy. It has higher saturated fat content than a regular beef burger due to using coconut oil which has a high saturated fat content. But if you are eating out, I say forget calories and just enjoy! I will definitely back for another impossible burger and I want to try the summer crepe!

My granddaughter loves this cafe and wanted to share her taste and experience with the family for her HS graduation. The cafe is actually a renovated home in Mid Town. It has a Berkeley vibe and sits on the second floor of the bldg. I have to say, the atmosphere was very casual with typical cafe type seating and even a couple couches to lounge on. Mind you none of us are Vegan except for my granddaughter. The food was surprisingly good. We ordered the Spring Bruschetta, Guac Burger, The Works, Curry, Spring Crepe, Chicken nuggets, and three of the desserts. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I really enjoyed the Spring Buschetta. The menu changes frequently so your favorite dish might not be there the next time. They were able to accommodate our party of 8 and we weren't cramped which was also a plus for me. The service was excellent. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience with a really cool laid back atmosphere. My granddaughters even purchased some precious stone jewelry that were for sale there too.

Ive been coming here for years.. Sadly it was the worst experience EVER encountered and we will not be coming back. We weren’t greeted at the door.. It felt like we were greeting them? How ironic. lol.. We sat ourselves, waited awhile to receive our waters.. We began to order the same order as we typically do every time over the years. We asked for our food to be well-done per usual. However, this time the order came out wrong and undercooked. Fine, we had no issues with waiting for our meal..mistakes happen.. After some time, the waitress who goes by the name Soul.. comes over and pulled up a chair.. to explain that we cannot have the meal cooked the way we requested? Like what? lol…Mind you, we’ve been coming here for years… She kept rambling on with her condescending tone and covert hostility with her explanation. At this point, I asked her to cancel the order.. she still insisted on speaking over me…and at me.. therefore I had to keep on respectfully asking her to just “cancel the order again” no problem… no further explanation needed. She cuts me off while I’m talking and says “yea, you said that like 5 times already” and turns around to make a catty noise under her breath (which was childish and very rude) she still proceeded to ramble on to make her point? What is up with this lady being so argumentative?! Never in my life, have I’ve encountered someone like her here. We spend $70-100+ every time we come here and tip generously. (Of course not this time, not deserving) Then, when we ask to speak to the Manager because her appalling behavior.. he goes on defending her actions..and her “feelings”.. like what? It is not our responsibility to cater to your employee’s feelings. This is the food/restaurant industry. He goes on justifying her actions.. stating she was the longest employee employed there and was the one who trained him? Yet, again. Still siding with his friend.. instead of handling the customer concerns respectfully and professionally. From that moment on I knew he was not listening.. since they seem to be buddy buddy. I proceeded to ask the Manager if I can speak to upper management or the Owner? Shockingly, he said “he was the manager and Owner” …lol the statement was quite contradicting.. because he just mentioned that the waitress Soul “trained him”.. that’s quite odd.. or shall we say fraudulent much? Good riddance...

This restaurant was just okay. My son and I went there for a special occasion. I made a reservation ahead of time and told them of the special occasion but no one ever acknowledged that while we were there. Most restaurants would have made some kind of fuss. The meal I wanted to order was no longer on the menu, though it showed on the website. The mail I ended up with was full of mostly squash and zucchini, things I'm not crazy about. Would have appreciated more different vegetables inside of it. My son got one of the specials, which were pretty spendy, and he didn't like it. He thought it was the pasta of the ravioli but I think it was most likely almond cheese or something because he said it was a little bit gritty. The appetizer was probably the best thing. We got a heirloom tomato thing that was just delicious. That was probably our favorite part. I WAS happy that there seemed to be organic soap in the restroom so I did not have to subject myself to chemicals. Kudos for that! For me, there are two problems with this restaurant. One is that the menu is very small so there are not many options. Most of them were things I would make at home and did not want to eat out. Second problem was no real gluten-free options. I think that a Restaurant that is vegan should perhaps have more consciousness around the subject of gluten. Oh! And I emailed the manager three times leading up to the day I was expecting to be there & never got an answer until afterwards! So they could definitely do better with communicating as well. All in all, we were not real impressed with the restaurant and probably will...
