Needed a day away from the normal hustle and bustle of home life. Just wanted a night in a hotel and a day by the pool. Called the hotel around 8:30 pm to find out about their late check out policy since we would be arriving late. The front desk claimed they had a no extra fee 5pm late check-out. Sounded perfect...too good to be true honestly! We took the 40 minute drive arriving late there. Again asked the man at the front desk as we checked in and he said just call the front desk in the morning. He was so slow honestly a long line started to extend into the parking lot as it was late and we checked in through a outside window with the lobby closed. I called front desk early since our goal was just to enjoy the pool and room all day and we needed two more towels because we used the two we had during the evening. They said they had no clean towels they were all being washed!! Unfortunately was also crushed by the woman at the counter whom said we'd have to be out by 12 even with the late check-out. Already dissatisfied with the towels and clearly being lied to. We would have never rented the room at this point. While I'm on the phone my boyfriend visited the pool to see if we might still enjoy a little time there. Someone had their dog swimming in the pool harrassing guests to act like they need saved by grabbing the side of the pool their dog would try to save them. I love animals and it's nice it's pet friendly but I didn't come to swim in a pool with dogs. We were grossed out. Couldn't even get extra towels anyway and didn't bring our own. We left without incident but I did call the next day and shared my experience. Explained I couldn't stop thinking about the experience and was reluctant to leave a bad review before speaking with them. The woman on the phone was curteous and apologized stating they didn't allow animals in the pool and would have the manager return our call. Two days later we still received no call from management to rectify. Clearly the front office will tell you anything to book a room and could care less about your experience. Save yourself the disappointment and choose another hotel! Complete...
Read moreI do not recommend this hotel if you are a decent human being. We switched rooms 4 different times, one of the rooms that was given to us was not even supposed to be rented out as it was 'blocked off.' We killed around 5 roaches before seeing a huge one climbing around the wall, as well as a spider right after. Which was the tipping point for us to finally complain. But that's not all.
The key cards have stopped working every other day, inconveniencing us very much. We know how these cards work so we keep them away from any electronics— the cards are just worthless.
All the rooms we did stay at, there was either blood in the bathroom walls, or the shower was clogged, the lights would take very long to turn on and lastly, the toilet doesn't even flush unless you hold the flusher for around 15 seconds. All of them had roaches. They spray a very strong scent on the air conditioner filter to make it smell clean, otherwise you can easily detect the smell of mold. It may smell clean, do not disregard the mold as it affects your health.
I called corporate to complain and all I got was a mere discount and apology for wasting my time and have to go through the struggle multiple times to move rooms, plus all our stuff. They don't care. Management doesn't care, they'll reply and say "sorry about the inconvenience" this and that. But they will not credit you for it, like they should.
I've stayed at hotels for $246 a week that have things such as full sized fridge and a microwave. These people are charging $400+ for a room with a small fridge, roaches to keep you company at night, messed up rooms and a whole load of other issues. As someone who has visited many different states I'm disappointed the health department has not issued a warning at the very least.
More people need to complain, these so called hotels are charging crazy amounts of money and delivering poor service and inconveniencing thousands of people— Call it what...
Read moreI tolerated the room even though it had a few roaches. I bought bug spray and after I sprayed I did not see bugs afterwards. I also bought my own towels, fabric spray, and cleaning supplies to make the room more tolerable. I stayed in a Red Roof in another town not far from there and their rooms were wonderful! I would even say that they were close to Marriot standards! Also,no critters in sight! The room here was...ok. I stayed for two reasons. 1.The location is maybe 30 min from a recording studio. My German Shep is shedding right now and the hardwood floors are easier to clean. I bought a broom and cleaned the hair up. I also think it is cool that pets stay for free. Although,I am an almost Ambassador member at Marriot so they sometimes waive the pet fee. However, they have carpet and the hair would be a mess so I chose the Red Roof for now! The house keeping staff is friendly so I left them a good tip. The front desk worker named Tasha(I think) is nice and the manager Ms. Tonya, was nice as well. The other lady Natoya was a bit rude and ignorant. I also asked her a question for clarification and she chuckled without explaining. *shrugs I planned on staying there some time until I finish my music and sign my contract soon. I am house shopping between St. Augustine and Orlando. Therefore, this was my place to stay so I needed some of my important mail to come to me. My plans changed when they(General Manager) complained about me receiving mail! The nerve of them! I only had a few envelopes shipped there. The other Red Roof had no issue with my mail. I even flew to California a couple times and when I got back they brought my mail to room. The Marriot hotels had no issue with my mail either. Anyway, since the other Red Roofs ratings in the area are so low....back to the Marriot for now! My rating is for the good...
