TERRIBLE for concerts. Something is wrong here. We had a group attend Kenny Loggins (rock) concert last week. Each member of the group was shocked that a rock music venue would not even offer a beer during the show. DRY campus policy the coffee server said. But she also acknowledged she got hundreds of complaints each night and was "embarrassed" "put in a terrible spot by the venue management" that some oddball policy prevented them from serving even a beer a a rock concert. She said it was to prevent underaged drinking... but at Kenny Loggins, the average age was about 55, so someone has lost it. Literally, the first rock concert anyone in my group has ever attended where you could not order a single beer or drink of any kind. Absurd. Either add drinks or stop showing concerts. You can get drinks at every fine venue in St. Louis... The Fox, The Powell, The Chaifetz (at a college campus too). I'd like to see a reply from the venue. We had people travel from all over to attend the show and we will not again until they figure...
Read moreThe Center, itself, is a very nice looking place and a very good, not-too-large venue for concerts and other events. Parking is plentiful and easy to find. However, concert performers need to adjust their sound volume to the space, or attendees need to bring ear plugs. Case in point: The "Sara Evans" concert we recently attended had musicians playing far too loud, with the result drowning out (obliterating!) her singing, and leaving us 3/4 deaf afterward. Also, moving spotlights were randomly beaming white or yellow lights into the eyes of the audience, making it impossible to see the singer (or anything else). I suspect the music volume of this concert was the fault of the band's sound or tech person, and was bad for our ears, but the lights were bad for our eyes. Note: There were some vendors in the lobby that had nothing to do with the concert event, a Lindenwood recruitment booth, and a live band - these were all interesting, but I question the...
Read moreWent to see St Louis ballet with my grandaughter. Since this was my first time attending a performance at this location, I depended on the staff to assist in ordering our tickets. I explained that I was bringing a 4 year old child and was concerned about her visibility. They recommended I purchase front row seats (the most expensive..$69 each) and she absolutely could not see!!! Not to mention a black speaker box directly blocking our view. Terrible seats!!! We ended up sitting in the usher seats at intermission!!! Also disappointed that the dancers never came out to greet...
