Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience buying from this location online. When I signed up, I received an email about what to expect. One thing it mentioned was a "Quality Assurance Checklist" that would be included to show that the item was in working order. However, mine did not include one.I bought a Gemeinhardt model X Flute, and when it arrived in the mail, it was barely playable. One of the pads had a large portion missing. Multiple pads had torn membranes. Some of the pads that appeared visually okay were leaking and not seated properly. One of the cork stoppers was just sitting in the case when it should have been attached to a key. There were also multiple bent keys, and the flute was generally dirty. This flute had clearly been sitting around for many years. The price tag was still attached to the case, and it had at least six stickers on it, with prices ranging from about $200â$700. I'm not a repair technician or anything, but I'm just someone who plays the flute, and I noticed most of this within just a few minutes of opening the case. For this instrument to be supposedly "tested and re-tested before selling," as the website states everything is, it's simply unacceptable. I informed them of the issues via email, and they literally just said, "You should have received a return label from UPS." Now, I suppose that is all they are required to do, but it doesn't reflect well on them.I shipped it off, and a few days later, it was back at my door because they did not provide a return label; they just gave me my address. So, when UPS scanned the barcode I gave them, it printed a label for MY address. I emailed and called to try and get a new return label, and I still haven't received one. I have decided to keep it and just get it fixed because, at this point, I highly doubt they will give me a refund, even though all the problems were on their part. Maybe this location is good for something, but if you are looking for a woodwind, I highly encourage you to look elsewhere. I have bought flutes and piccolos on eBay and have had better luck.
UPDATE. I have changed my review from 1 to 2 stars. They did end up giving me a full refund, which I was not expecting in the slightest based on the information on the website. I'm honestly not exactly sure why. I'm not sure if it's because when I asked for a new return label through email and phone, I did not get a response, and when they did see my email, they decided that would be the best way to resolve the situaution. Or possibly saw my review and photos. Although if you also have a bad experience, do not count on receiving a full refund. I am not sure why I got lucky, but there is a very good chance you will not, based on...
Read moreHave not had a bad experience until today. I have spent a considerable amount of money at this location over the past several months. One thing i really like about this location is that they sell pre owned pickups. The guys that work here are great.
But I picked up a guitar here a few days ago, and ended up not falling in love with it. I decided to bring it back and exchange it for something else. There were several guitars at this price point i had been interested in. I had narrowed it down between a strat and a prs. So i decided on one, it was an even trade minus the 10% they had taken off the initial guitar. I get the guitar home, then decided i didnât need another strat fixer upper.
4 hours later i drive back out to St. Charles to exchange it for the PRS, both guitars were the EXACT same price. He charged me a $65 restocking fee and when i asked he said his boss makes home do it.
On the receipt is says âReturns and exchanges have 7 daysâ and âa 10% restocking MAY be chargedâ Now i have returned several items to them since i started coming out to their store. I returned an item last week and the gentleman wrote me a check on the spot no questions asked. I have been patronizing both locations for a while now and have never once has a 10% restocking fee ever been brought up.
Anyway that $65 restocking fee for an item i brought back 4 hours later, to exchange for another item in the store left a bad taste in my mouth. I wasnât asking for my money back, just an even trade. Itâs almost enough for me to not drive 30 minutes to give them my business. The more i think about it I should have just asked for my money back. We will see maybe i will, i...
Read moreInitially I found the store owner fair-minded making this store far less the mercenary greed of the St. Louis store. They have a fair amount of intermediate instruments and some high end. Since opened I purchased several of both here but now it appears the owner's gotten a little big for his briches, making the buying experience unpleasant. Most know these stores (Guitar Center, Music-Go-Round, etc) pay on average 40% street value for used gear. That gives them a lot of room when you factor people are getting 40% value trading in on a 100% price of their purchase so the store makes it on both ends.
Of recent a couple pieces caught my eye but upon dealing directly with the owner cash in hand he was not flexible or even reasonable. I felt I was dealing with some little snot at Guitar Center. No denying these stores have to make money...not denying that nor should they cave on disgusting lowball offers but when a repeat buyer comes in and offers just a bit South of their asking price on a used item, especially a brand few have heard of and are told only if it's still there in 3 months will they consider $20 less you might as well be dealing with Guitar Center. Best to just go deal with Reverb and eBay from private sellers and not give these stores your money as well as paying tax for the privilege. During the pandemic these brick and mortar stores should appreciate and respect buyers coming in to deal with them again, especially those that have the money in hand and have purchased from...
