What youll get here is an honest review without the sugar coating or icing on the cake because i didnt make it to desert shopping today and this is why..... Let me with saying this, if you need ingredients for Asian or Pacific cuisine i bet you can find it here, there is lots to choose from and i only made it through just about 4 or 5 isles of the store and a small portion or the very large meat department and i was very impressed by the variety and new products i had never seen befor comi g to the Sun World Supermarket. But i had to cut my trip short and finish shopping somewhere else. Checking out turned out to be painfully slow, I must have been in line for about 25 minutes said the final glance at my watch. Keep in mind I had cut the trip short and opted for a diffrent store, one that is much much cleaner, has better lighting, and cleaner air quality. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the strict rules and regulations of the food services industry in the City of Minneapolis or Hennipin County's Department of Health standards, but after this visit I might never go back to this place unless they make big changes! I did give them 2 stars because Parking was effortless, and the customer service was friendly, and employees where very helpful. BUT this store could definitly use some serious work in the cleanliness department (unfortunately I'm NOT referring to their selection of cleaning supplies.) I mean seriously! Let's face it, the reason the staff are so friendly and helpful is probably because I don't think any of them have to clean anything up! I was shocked, like wow, this place is dreary and as much as I hate to say it, DIRTY! I walked around shocked that a store this big and this popular, is in the condition its in, then realised they only had 2 cashiers working. I couldn't wait to be outta there fast but that didn't happen. It was tough to give them 2 stars when I do t understand how they are even open! I should probably stick to grocery shopping in Minneapolis. Yikes. But enough about that, I bet they have that RARE ingredient you need for that dish from back home (no I'm not talking about Walleye seasoning from up in Red Lake,MN, sorry im taking about Asian Cuisine my niiji!) so if you got 30 minutes to wait in line to checkout, go check it out, lots of variety, friendly staff, and parking was a breeze! Covid is over BUT WEAR A MASK! and if you found this review helpful don't forget to give it a thumbs up! You can even write your own and contribute it to Google maps! Enjoy...
Read moreA new favorite place to buy meats & other stuff. Got lots of stuff & never over $160, can't get that at most store like Cub foods, other Asian stores, including like Golden Harvest, Double Dragon, & you name it. I also get it that the staff are new to this & that, but why not hired people w/ more or good experiences already and for those new experiences, train them more, if they have to be in the register then there should be another person w/ high experiences teaching them. I heard lots of people complained about how they don't know how to greet their customers. Its simple, its not hard to remember. This one lady asked to help me @ the deli, but when I asked her how much, she doesn't know the price & telling me something that doesn't make sense. I don't even understand what she trying to tell me cause its not even the answer to my question. I did buy a few fruits & vegetables, but prefer to buy most of those vegetables & fruits somewhere else cause most of it aren't fresh @ this store. Seriously, most Asian stores & most of their meats & vegetables & fruits products, please stop being greedy & stop trying to sell expired products or almost expired products. At least sell it cheaper if its it's almost expired. Business will always have loss, but will...
Read moreI'l be honest: this kind of market was a new experience for me. (I grew up in a population of mostly German/Scandinavian descent.) I spent a good hour here looking at everything (except the meat -- vegetarian... no thanks!). I loved the big produce department where I found a bunch of fresh mushrooms I can't buy anywhere else, plus fruit, vegetables, and herbs at very reasonable prices. I took a few pics of items I want to look up and learn how to use. :) There were lots of housewares as well, like pretty dishes and some of the biggest, fancy vases & metal stock pots I've ever seen. Staff was very nice and polite, and they were great about opening up additional lanes when the registers got a bit congested. The whole store was clean and organized, especially considering the variety of shelf goods they sell. I'm excited to taste everything I bought, and I'm sure I'l be back again to find new foods to try. I wouldn't shop here for typical or gourmet American faire, obviously, but for a break from the "same-old same-old" you find at Trader Joe's, Cub, Hy-Vee, Whole Foods, etc, this is a good alternative. I realize this review shows how sadly unworldly I am, but I want to reassure others that this is a place worth checking out. I felt welcome and...
