Albert Whitted Playground in St. Petersburg is a delightful aviation‑themed gem nestled on a scenic waterfront. It features a custom “airplane” play structure including cockpit, slides, climbers, and runway markings perfect for imaginative play among kids aged 2–12. Surrounded by ferries, yachts, and small planes taking off from the adjacent Albert Whitted Airport, the playground offers dynamic visual entertainment that keeps both children and adults engaged. Parents appreciate the fenced layout, clean restrooms, picnic shelters, and expansive bay views though shading is limited, especially midday.Metered parking is available nearby. Overall, it earns a strong 4.6/5 rating across multiple review platforms. In under 5 acres, this park brilliantly combines history, scenery, and fun making it a must‑visit family spot in downtown St. Pete.

fantastic spot for families. Conveniently located between the small airport and the bay, it offers a unique experience—kids can play while parents enjoy watching sailboats and small planes taking off and landing. The area is well-maintained, with a clean restroom nearby, making it a comfortable stop for families. It’s a great place for a relaxing walk with kids, with plenty of open space and scenic waterfront views. Unfortunately, as of March 2025, the playground is closed for renovation, but we’re eagerly waiting for its reopening. Hopefully, it will return even better than before, offering a safe and fun environment for children. Definitely worth a visit once it’s back in action!

Beautiful scenic view of the bay whether you're standing in front of the Dali or under the air traffic control tower next to the park. Equipped with a playground for younger kids and clean restrooms.

Great little playground. Our son loves watching the aircraft landing and departing from the airport, as well as the boats at the marina and the buses that use the cul-de-sac adjacent to the park. The only problem I have is the limited parking, which can pose a problem during busy times. Also, as somewhat of a PSA: the park is inaccessible during and around the Grand Prix, as well as November-January when they have the ice skating rink operating. I believe it is technically open during those times, but good luck trying...
