Almost always the same friendly and kind employees that have worked here for years. I've spent many $1,000's here over the last 30 years. While I value the selection and staff, I also value extremely open and ethically honest reviews, too. Minor words of advice for buyers: check the watches well prior to purchase, because they're usually several hundred dollars and the ones on display are the ones being sold. Sometimes, they have small dings/minor scratches to the bezels and/or SS bands. Unless you're disrespectfully hard on your watches, then the One-Time-Payment Insurance is a waste of money and a pain to deal with. The literature and sale pitch SOUNDS amazing, but good luck getting them to make your watch "LIKE NEW" as per what the literature states, because it will never be like-new again without replacing the case and band. The literature says they will replace bands once a year, but even getting that done isn't as easy as dropping it off at FM and getting it replaced or dropping it off, getting it sent off and then replaced. If your band is scratched, save some money and just buy a new identical Citizen band out-of-pocket online. On the plan, Jewelry requires that you make a trip in and have it inspected every six months--that gets you in there to potentially make another purchase...it's also a pain at times. Brutal truth, but...you get what you pay for in diamonds and quality. The diamond jewelry found here "on sale" is really only worth what it's sold at when on sale--you're paying for a finished form that looks really pretty to the naked eye under fluorescent bulbs that make all diamonds and CZ sparkle like crazy. However, they're most often low to mid quality and are often visibly cloudy and not identical within the piece (such as a ring, for example--each diamond may be vastly different in clarity (most notably evident when viewing them unders a UV light, yet, sometimes visible easily with a naked eye, so long as they're big enough or you look intently enough). In terms of plan value and experience...after having spent thousands on Insurance plans here over the years to cover all of the more expensive jewelry and only one cheap repair needing to be done once-in-a-blue-moon, it's rare that the Insurance plan is ever worth it, even if you need to have a diamond replaced. Aside from that, I still like to shop here, but I'm more picky when I evaluate items and make choices. Lastly...I'm sorry if it seems insensitive, but I have to speak openly from a decent lifetime of experience...please hire a better-skilled jeweler with great attention to detail and a knack for perfectionism. The current jewelrler is poorly skilled and it shows in the work that's performed. I'm sorry that his dad passed away (an amazing jeweler, btw, RIP), but I don't think he was cut out for this line of work. I'm sorry to have to say that out loud. I still love shopping here, but honesty is the best policy, because without it, we are denying what is a greater (more truthful) truth. I rate this store 4-stars mainly for the selection and for the quality/cost of items on sale. We all have to pay some form of premium to keep stores making profit and staying in business. However, the staff services (such as free jewelry cleaning) and the fact that the employees here treat everyone with a smile/positive interaction are a valuable plus and greatly appreciated by customers and are a positive for our local community. I'd much rather give my hard-earned money to supporting the kind staff here at South Salem FM Jewelers than at other local jewelry or department stores. Honestly, if you're just looking for nice looking bling bling without breaking the bank, this is a fantastic place even with my minor perfectionist grievances. I am amongst the minority who are extremely picky about minor imperfections. Most will be extremely happy with no real complaints, if you shop here. The women are very welcoming, friendly, helpful,...
Read moreOkay most people are not going to believe this but it actually happened and I can prove it and it still happening right now I had a very nice watch it was very sentimental to me my wife gave it to me before she passed away I took it in to the Fred Meyers Jewelers here on commercial and the jeweler a little Oriental guy was working away in his area as the jeweler I went up to him and gave him my watch and ask him if he could replace the battery and just clean the crystal on the inside of the little watermarks I also told him do not touch any of the mechanics of it because it's a Timex perpetual Day date that is set at the factory he charged me $15 for the battery and $15 to wipe a little bit of moisture off the crystal I left it with him he said come back in a couple of days I come back he gives me my watch doesn't say anything and I leave I get home and I go to set the watch and the entire pin comes out in other words my watch is broke and ruined I take it back to the same jeweler and he starts berating me and yelling at me in front of my roommate and other customers and the other employees at the Fred Meyers Jewelers I approached the manager I show him what happened to my watch that was broke on purpose by their jeweler I told them the sentimental value and that it came from my wife before she passed awayand that meant a great deal to me and that I want the exact same watch they gave it to a different jeweler and in 3 months it still wasn't fixed this was the last year since then I've been in the jewelry shop multiple times and tried to get them to at least give me another watch of my choice because I found out they could not be repaired but they no longer make them anymore go to my shop Enterprise and dismay Fred Meyers Corporation in Fred Meyers Jewelers here in town decided that it was only worth $75 on a gift card now mind you due to what happened to me they fired that jeweler and they even expected me to sign a disclaimer and release all parties from any liability including the jeweler that they fired since then it's been in and out with the same result that nothing gets accomplished you would think that a corporation as big as them would want to keep everybody happy since I've been a customer there's since I was a kid and I'm 58 years old now and I can tell you for a fact right now I will never shop at Fred Meyers again and I tell everybody that I know and all my family not to go there anymore and that they should be boycotted until they come to their senses it's very rude and disrespectful to think that because I'm only one man I don't matter and they don't care but if I was a group of people with all the sudden they would care all I wanted was for them to make it right at this point I have "loss of use" connect trauma and the pain that it brings up when I think about the fact that I will never have that watch again nor do I even have anything that's nice enough to make me say okay sweetheart as I prayed her Creator in the spirits here is what they gave me and I hope you like it instead I get the shuffle I get worked around and now it's pathetic to think that it's been like 13 months now and they act like it's my fault when indeed and in fact they just are not willing to compromise or offer me anything other than here here's a little bit of this we don't give a shit about anything else leave or establishment so anybody who reads this I would suggest at the very least you complain to Fred Meyers about their actions and their attitude if for no other reason than for the one person me that got screwed over so in the future it may save thousands of people from getting screwed over...
Read moreI got a longer chain for a necklace that was a gift. I was shown a very expensive chain first that was very unreasonably priced and I asked for sterling sliver instead the sale Associate said okay well if you want to mix the metals that’s fine. I didn’t even buy the original necklace at Fred Meyer jewelers. So how would she know? I picked the one I wanted and it was not badly priced but it was on sale and the sales associate added the lifetime care plan without even asking me which was more and made the chain the same price without the sale. Who does that ? I never asked for the plan which I would not have on a 40 dollar piece. Never coming here again Fred Meyer jewelers has really lost what true customer service is. I might return it and go elsewhere that is just absolutely disgusting to do to someone. Hope she enjoys her very small crap...
