Terrible. I recently was skateboarding at the skateboard park when I was overrun by children playing on the ramps. After an hour or so of skating around them, some guy shows up with 8 kids (all under the age of 6) and 3 electric BMX mini bikes and 2 electric scooters (sans helmets) in tow.
I was snaked many times and, after nearly falling again I told one of the kids to be careful because people can get hurt. Well that little db ran to his dad who came at me in front of about 30 people. I tried to explain my intent. I reminded him of the (posted) rules that clearly state that the Park is for skateboarding only. No scooters and no children without safety gear. After about 10 mins of being yelled at I finally told him that, as long as his kid continues to get in my way, I’m going to continue to tell him to watch out. Well, that led to him threatening to get his wife to kick my ass. I told him to stop threatening me and I walked away. No one stood up for me despite me being right because this guy was so intimidating. Thanks for nothing Salem folks.
Just a side note- I didn’t let that guy run me out of the park. I didn’t leave and even got a nice laugh when his kid was taunting me and fell off his scooter. Good enough to warrant me stepping off my board and smiling. I can’t wait to return next weekend with...
Read moreIt’s fine. Obstacles are too big. For some reason designers think every skater wants to throw themselves 10 ft in the air or trick down a huge set of stairs. Hopefully down the line they add more skate plaza elements and open up the boundaries of the park a bit more. Ideally more can be added in that weird space of asphalt walkway. I know the designers of this park are prolific but I think they phoned it in for this one. They don’t even list the park on their website. Everything is crammed and way oversized. Why would someone drop in on a 6 foot tranny to grind a bench five feet away lol the best thing there is the little a frame but again the huge hubba and rail make it really tight and act as unnecessary hazards if you...
Read moreA smooth, compact park with a varied street section and fun bowl that gets easily packed on the weekends. The street features are fun, although the construction makes for some odd quirks (like a not-exactly-flat flatbar and slightly off kilter ledges). The a-frame section is perfectly sized and skateable for both stances—same goes for the bump to rail. The mini QPs and the larger ones make for decent flow, although the multiple levels can make it hard to keep a line going. The long stairs make the short runup difficult, but it’s plenty of room for the hubba and handrail. Due to the great variety of obstacles here, almost any skater will enjoy some aspect. Just make sure to go on a...
