Terrible. I recently was skateboarding at the skateboard park when I was overrun by children playing on the ramps. After an hour or so of skating around them, some guy shows up with 8 kids (all under the age of 6) and 3 electric BMX mini bikes and 2 electric scooters (sans helmets) in tow.
I was snaked many times and, after nearly falling again I told one of the kids to be careful because people can get hurt. Well that little db ran to his dad who came at me in front of about 30 people. I tried to explain my intent. I reminded him of the (posted) rules that clearly state that the Park is for skateboarding only. No scooters and no children without safety gear. After about 10 mins of being yelled at I finally told him that, as long as his kid continues to get in my way, I’m going to continue to tell him to watch out. Well, that led to him threatening to get his wife to kick my ass. I told him to stop threatening me and I walked away. No one stood up for me despite me being right because this guy was so intimidating. Thanks for nothing Salem folks.
Just a side note- I didn’t let that guy run me out of the park. I didn’t leave and even got a nice laugh when his kid was taunting me and fell off his scooter. Good enough to warrant me stepping off my board and smiling. I can’t wait to return next weekend with...
Read moreI love this spot, it’s full of historic energy, it’s beautiful, it can be a bit creepy, definitely haunted, but (and maybe just me), but the skate park is obnoxious and ruins the feel of the place. There are no historical signs with information, especially about how thats actually not where the witches were hanged, but they did trail through there on their way to the true hanging tree around the corner.
And its not just the skatepark, though that should have been built by the proctor street side, and the park could’ve had so many more opportunities to look beautiful.
There are way too many thoughts I have about this place so I’ll stop here, but I feel like Gallows Hill Park is not being able to live up to its worth. Let’s do...
Read moreWhile there are decent amenities (skate park, bike rack a couple fields and a playground) I mostly see this as a site for free parking as long as there isn't some school sports event going on, in witch* case good luck. If there are events it crowds up swiftly.
Quite unfortunately, for the decently pleasing area the local kids and their parents have a bad littering tendency with people dropping waterbottles everywhere and even throwing garbage out of their cars before leaving the otherwise nice area. 2/5 would...
