I am not an avid book reader myself due to medical conditions. I read books on audio mostly. However this book store has had some dealings in the community which have been extremely positive. I recently was fortunate enough to attend the event of Mr. George Takei at the Stiefel Theatre in Salina and I know that the bookstore helped with that event and the owner spoke about the book during the presentation and it was so nice to see them so involved in the community to be able to help and educate people and pass this information along and to be able to bring this type of material to the small town. So I feel that it's important to give them a positive review not solely based on a wonderful bookstore which is beautiful and just a joy to go to when I get to Salina but also based on the fact that they are a positive influence on the community in their efforts to enrich the population and participate in the improvement of the area! The only reason I give a 4 star review and not a 5, is due to a phone call from a representative of the store name Christie. This may be the same young lady that is mentioned in another review I'm not sure. But she was very cold! She made me feel like I was an inconvenience taking up her valuable time! She made me feel like some nut who was just trying to get contact information and that was not even the case! This was after I contacted the store and spoke with a very nice young man named Jamie who was very polite and listened to the reason that I was inquiring, regarding meeting Mr. Takei on my way to my car and he was kind enough to do a video message to my Great Nephews 12 and 14 regarding being on the student council in their respective schools. However, while recording I apparently hit the pause button and missed the bulk of the very positive advice he gave each of them. I know that the day of the event they held a book signing at the store, and at the time I met Mr. Takei the owner of the store was present I assumed that they may be able to reach out to the representative that helped arrange that and perhaps pass that message for me. Since I have not had much luck reaching anyone in the contact listing for Mr. Takei. It's certainly logical to think that if you had the gentleman in your store for a book signing, and you were part of the introduction that you would still have the contact information for whomever arranges Mr. Takei's schedule. Especially when you are dealing with "Family". And those people that understand what that means will understand what I am...
Read moreThe store is cool. My issue was with one of the sales woman. I was looking at one of the pocket journals. I slid the paper ring off to see what the inside looked like, put the ring back on, sat it back down so I could look in the other bin.The associate came over and picked up the journal I was looking at and took it back behind the counter. I waited to see if she would bring it back so I could purchase it but she didn't. So I went up to her and said I don't know why you took that. I was planning on purchasing it. She got flustered and said oh I was just checking the price. The price was plainly labeled on the back. There was no need to take it and put it behind the register. I felt like I was treated like she thought I was going to steal the journal. I will...
Read moreThe BEST surprise while recently visiting Salina, KS. We were meeting friends for dinner, and I saw the bookstore. I went in and was swept away by the beauty, order, and charm. I have visited too many bookstores to count, and this is now one of my all-time favorites. The store is clean, has a terrific selection, and they even have a wall with beautiful wrapping paper to gift wrap the books you buy. The two girls that were working the night we visited were just delightful and I would’ve stayed longer talking about books and picking out the ones I wanted had I not had dinner reservations! We bought several books and I guarantee...
