DG Market — Local services in Salina

The entire store seemed clean and well kept; the outside entryway as well as parking lot area were equally well kept and free of trash and debris. Upon entering the store the floors DID NOT have a dirty or dingey appearance. The products on the shelves appeared neat and organized and obviously "fronted" regularly, as there were not too many places any items were missing from the front. There was a fair variety of items for a store of this size, though I noticed some products, such as ice cream, failed to provide any lower cost brand names. The employees I encountered were friendly and helpful and knowledgeable regarding their store. I had asked a number of questions to those working regarding IF they had certain items and where other items might be located and they always had an answer for me. When checking out it seemed most people opted to use the self serve registers and there was no employee manning the regular check out register. I went to the "Regular" register wondering if there might be a wait for someone to come check me out, but someone came and manned the register almost immediately. Facility itself is great. The employee working the cash register on May 25, 2022 at approximately 4:20P could use some retraining. A woman was 8 cents short so she went to her car to get it. As she left I stepped up to the register and asked how much she needed. The cashier said 8 cents. I asked her if she could enter her cash and I would pay the 8 cents with my card. She said no, the lady was coming right back with it. I asked her again to do it, and told the cashier it would save her some time. She acted annoyed and refused again. This Dollar General store in downtown Salina Kansas is very convenient for those of us who live in the downtown area pretty much always have what you need Weatherby food clothing or other employees are quite nice and helpful if needed always asking did you find everything you needed at the checkout it would be one hell of a loss if we lost this stored in downtown...
