BEWARE!!! They charged me $368.55 for THIS blonde highlight (see pictures). AMY TODD did this to my hair, Scott’s “advanced protégé.” When I asked why it was so expensive before paying at the salon, Scott came over and said it was the amount of foils Amy used, and that it was “a full highlight.” As you can see by the pictures, not only is this NOT a full highlight, but she put the least amount of foils in my hair of any colorist I’ve been to. There were other people in the salon, so I paid without causing a scene, and decided to follow up the next day (I was told someone would call me back for 3-4 days and no one ever did) Finally I called and got Scott, but he refused to let me speak to Amy directly. When I sent him pictures of the color and asked for some kind of refund/reimbursement, he not only refused to change the price of the service, but said he “stood by Amy’s choices,” that he looked it over and “he wouldn’t have changed anything.” Then he told me he was going to cancel my next appointment at the salon (not that I wouldn’t have cancelled myself, but I think this says a lot about Scott and his business ethics). ***Hidden in the pricing portion of the website is a link to “minimum charges,” where they list an hourly rate!!!*** Scott leaned into this as to why he wouldn’t give me any money back… So the 30 minutes he spent telling me his life story while Amy “went to the bathroom,” and after Amy messed up my color and was forced to use toner for another hour and a half, etc, they were charging me $86.25/hour on top of the service charges. IT’S A SCAM.

I have never made time to write a review, but this salon deserves it 2000%. Where to even start! Every detail was incredible at M. Scott Salon. I had an uncommon request for them and Melanie and Scott were so hopeful and ready to take on the challenge for me. So I had recently gotten married and forgot to pack a brush for afterwards, including the honeymoon. My entire wedding braid updo turned into a matted dread with hair creating spiderweb like knots all over my scalp so there was no way to just cut it out - unless I wanted to be bald. I went to a different shop before and after an hour they advised me to just work it out on my own, but being out of my vision it was very hard. I went to M. Scott Salon and I will never go anywhere else. They were all in and were dedicated to not just helping, but finishing the project. Melanie, thank you for your time and dedication and top of the line skill; you are amazing. Scott, thank you for helping with my hair in between all of your other appointments and even staying very late to get it done. Steve, you walked into our crazy hair situation and helped as well! To whoever is wondering if they should trust putting their hair in the hands of M Scott Salon, you most definitely can, and are crazy if you don’t. You cannot go wrong with any of the stylists. They are all incredible and even if your request was as odd as mine to get a matted dread out, they will be fully committed and will make you feel at home in the process. My hair feels amazing and I am so grateful for M. Scott Salon.

I really wanted to give this place a five star review because everybody is so friendly and professional. Unfortunately, my recent experience with Steve is causing me to leave this review. If you have blonde hair or looking to go blonder please avoid the stylist. I came in asking to go much more blonde (I am a darker blonde naturally) And he did a balayage technique with no foils that left the top quite gold and the bottom more of my dark blonde Ashley color. It looks quite Patchy, and frankly it wasn’t a significant difference from my normal color. They were super professional and offered to fix it, but I would have to see the same stylist if I wanted to avoid being charged for the service to fix it. This time I came to armed with pictures and thought it would be easier to communicate that way. Unfortunately what I was given was significantly different from the pictures. Steve basically painted bleach onto all of my roots after doing the highlights, and left the entire upper half of my hair nearly completely white with no dimension whatsoever. The roots continue to be patchy with dark spots, yellow spots, gold spots, and areas where my natural hair shows through. I’ve given up on trying to have them fix it and I’m planning on going elsewhere. Lucky for me the look, although it was not what I asked for, does look good if you don’t look at the roots. So since the appointment I have been confined to a hat. Long story short, avoid the stylus if you were looking to go blonde.

Like many people, I moved to SLC and needed a new stylist + colorist. To find a good colorist is hard to do, especially when you are blonde. To get the right color of blonde takes a good colorist. After being referred to Scott (from someone in Austin, Texas), I decided to try him. As soon as you walk into the salon, they offer you a drink, offer to take your coat, and offer you pretty much anything. Every staff member is so warm and welcoming. Scott really analyzes your hair and pays attention to what you want. Even if you do not agree with his idea (which never happens--he's a hair genius), he will do what you want. The products Scott uses are amazing and do not contain chemicals that kill and fry your hair. This is super important if you get it colored. My hair barely grew before I came to see Scott. His cuts and colors make my hair healthier! My hair has grown about 6+ inches in a few months. Scott really tries to interact with his clients and others in the salon. Even if you do not get a cut or color with Scott, he will still talk to you and make you feel comfortable in his salon. He truly goes beyond and above for his clients. He even walks you to your car to make sure you like the color in the outside light!

Not only is he an awesome colorist, he is such an interesting guy. You are never bored with Scott. He speaks like 5 languages, fences, loves old cars, and lived all over. It's fun to hear about his life. He has so many cool stories. It's like a sprinkle on the top because his stories make waiting for a color to process go by quickly!! Ask him to see his old photos, they are AMAZING!

In response to Ariel J, who seems to bash the salon. If I ever had an issue with my hair, I would text or email Scott. He would fit it in a heart beat. He wants you to be happy and he would do whatever you want to make sure you are happy with your hair. I am a picky client, and he does everything he can to make sure I am happy. I love love love my hair and could not found a better person. Thank you so much Scott and I highly...
