Really upset at the menu change. I used to order the chicken and grains meal several times a month. Last year in July, my sister from Idaho and I came here and enjoyed the chicken and grains meal and it was so FREAKIN good, she was yapping to me about how bad she was craving it and couldn’t wait to have it again. Now she’s visiting me on her annual trip again and we were so excited to have that dish out once more, but unfortunately we waited a day too late because we came the day after they made the menu change.
Suffice to say the replacement of the chicken and grains meal does not even come close to the masterpiece that was chicken and grains.
Let me describe to you what I felt the moment that I first sampled the chicken and grains meal :
Upon the first bite of this most delectable meal, my senses were transported to realms of unparalleled delight as my teeth pierced the tender flesh of the soft, shredded chicken. A flood of ambrosial juices did fourthwith cascade across my pallet, rendering me speechless and awestruck by such sumptuous flavors never before sampled by the human experience. The texture of the roasted peppers was a divine suppleness, akin to the finest silks. Each shoe waves of saver blending and perfect harmony with the delightful green Peruvian sauce and topped by my personal favorite addition of the Fresno aïoli. It was as if the very essence of the heavens have been captured within the single moment, and I felt the explosions of supernovas in distant galaxies, birthing nebulous clouds, which gave way to hundreds of new stars twinkling in my iris with each chew. In that moment, all worldly concerns did vanish replaced by the pure unadulterated pleasures of the quinoa and rice mix topped with the delightful and playful twist of the miniature cilantro.
Unfortunately, on this new menu, I did not have such an experience. My sister agreed, for she immediately burst into tears and tried to commit seppuku on the spot which I had to stop her and convince her that the new plate was not as bad as she was making it out to be.
I’m hoping that my humble words convince the owners to at the very least return the chicken and grains meal to the menu lest my mind never again be kissed by the soft touch...

One of the toppings that you can choose on your salad is mac and cheese. Well that sounds gross to me, having mac and cheese on a fresh pile of leafy greens so I asked them if I could have that specific topping placed in a side dish. Kat (the employee) said yes and so I ordered it that way with my other cold toppings on the top of my salad. My lunch arrives and I see that next to my salad is a very small helping of mac and cheese. It couldn't have been more than the size of an ice cream scoop worth of mac and cheese. With a look of bewilderment, I carried the tray up to the front and I asked Kat if I could please have some more mac and cheese in my dish. Kat had a look of bewilderment on their face as well but said yes. So Kat takes it from me and proceed to give me one more scoop of mac and cheese, and walks it back to me and says that I have to charged a few extra dollars for my mac and cheese and proceeded to push a few buttons on the register screen. I told Kat I wasn't going to pay extra money to get a decent scoop of mac and cheese so if they would like to, they can go ahead and take back that extra soup that they gave me and I will just take the original portion. The look of shock that I must have had on my face was probably worth taking a picture of because what happened next was Kat walked back to where the mac and cheese is, took the tiny scoop, and literally scooped out the mac and cheese that was just put into my dish and put it back in to the container of mac and cheese... Then Kat walked the dish back to where I was standing and handed it to me as if what just happened was totally normal and fine. Safe to say I will not be returning to this establishment because not only is what they did unsanitary because I previously had the dish on my table before bringing it back up to them, but the whole thing was so bizarre that I'm still mind-boggled from it. I'm pretty sure it's against some regulation to put food back into a serving container after it's been on a customer's plate/dish. Yuck!!!! How many times does this happen here? I simply wouldn't believe it if it didn't happen in front of my eyes....
Read moreA good experience on my first visit; food poisoning on my second.
I came for lunch on my first visit a few weeks ago and enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service. I visited again yesterday for dinner and the vibe was dramatically different. The serving area was visibly messy - food bits from all the different containers were scattered across the counter and the staff didn't seem to notice their mess. I thought they must have just been busy but I should've taken it as a sign of either an understaffed kitchen or inconsistent food safety and cleanliness standards.
I ordered the same meal as my first visit: mashed potatoes, braised beef, and brussel sprouts. The potatoes were not cooked through and I bit into solid chunks of butter and undercooked potato. The braised beef was tough. Most disappointingly, the brussel sprouts were inedible - they were both charred and not cooked through. I couldn't finish them because they were so tough and burnt. Later in the night I got some minor food poisoning. I mentioned this to my friend who had dinner with me and he similarly had issues after eating a different meal last night.
Disappointing that the food quality and cleanliness vary so much.
Aside/personal peeve: good tacos do not cost $10+. You can tell places try too hard when they charge 5x what...
