Americas Best Value Inn San Antonio Downtown Riverwalk — Attraction in San Antonio

We stayed here to try something different than the usual motel 6. The first thing that comes to mind about when looking at the outside felt like..." really? Lets find somewhere else" but in actual its quite decent and cozy. We arrived early and theres no mention about checking in at 2:00 which was a bummer because after our flight we just wanted to take a shower and relax. The lady at the front seemed a little rude but maybe it was just her. we had to go do some activities just to waste time, Oh and the thing about if you get this motel they will charge you in a day advance. We thought that was odd so my partner called and spoke them. After coming back to the motel, it wasnt 200 yet but we were famished, we needed rest. So he spoke to the gentleman inside and he was alot nicer and allowed us to check in early. Thank you. But the room wasnt ready and clean so they gave us another room. The housekeeping lady was super helpful, shes the best and shes very attentive. 5 star for her. The location is nice because down town is just right down the street passed the cemetery.. and you'll notice it cause of the big buildings. The other thing that I didn't like was on the website it mentioned cab service that they "provide" but when it came to it the lady owner.. again ..sigh...gave a remark about how "its too late and that they don't drive because of traffic." With her I give her poor service because that day was my birthday and we needed someone to be the designated driver for us. And plus it says on website. Taxis I guess you can forget.. unless if your lucky to get one in that area. But what ever we went out and had fun. Breakfast... it says there but we didnt see anything. The refrigerator is nice but its gross having to see hair stuck inside, and the microwave... gosh... that thing should be trashed because it doesnt work. At least the room was more taken care of, like vintage items. We would probably come back if we visited and hoping certain things should be fixed. But all in all we only did business with the owner guy and hes very helpful, only it would have been nice if he was there that night to take us into downtown. Without that lady and her rudeness the place would be...

WE STAYED FOR ONE NIGHT INITIALLY AS WE HAD NEVER BEEN BEFORE. WE WERE SO PLEASED THAT UPON CHECKOUT WE DECIDED TO EXTEND OUR ROOM FOR A WEEK! THE STAFF HERE HERE WAS BEEN AMAZING ! IT IS THE ONLY PLACE IN SAN ANTONIO THAT WAS SO FLEXIBLE WITH OUR PERSONAL NEEDS, WE WERE VERY PLEASED. THE PROPERTY IS VERY SMALL AND EXTREMELY QUIET THEY HAVE GREEN GRASS AND TAKE CARE OF THEIR LANDSCAPING AS WELL AS OUTDOOR AREAS WONDERFULLY. THE ROOMS WERE A SURPRISE AS WELL BOASTING LARGE ACCOMODATIONS, EQUIPPED W STAINLESS STEEL MINI FRIDGE AND MICROWAVE A HUGE FLAT SCREEN, DESK AREA WHICH I NEEDED AS I DO LOTS OF PRINTING ! THERE WAS AMPLE STORAGE SPACE FOR PERSONAL BELONGINGS AND EXTREMELY HELPFUL LIGHTING OPTIONS AND EVEN A CIELING FAN. THE WALK IN SHOWERS HAVE BEEN RECENTLY UPGRADED AS WERE THE FLOORS AS THEY ARE FEAUX WOOD PLANK AND ARE A NICE CHANGE FROM DIRTY STINKY CARPET THAT MOST MOTELS HAVE. THE OWNER IM ASSUMING IS WONDERFUL!!!!HE WAS VERY HELPFUL TO US WHEN NOTHING REQUIRED HIM TO BE. ALL OF THE STAFF IVE RUN INTO FROM THE NIGHT PERSON TO THE MAINTANENCE HAVE ALL BEEN VERY SWEET AND ATTENTIVE!! THIS PROPERTY TO ME IS SEVERLY UNDERATED AND IM NOT FAMILIAR W THIS AREA OF TOWN BUT I WILL ALWAYS RETURN HERE REGARDLESS OF THAT FROM NOW ON FOR ANY MOTEL NEEDS WHETHER FOR A NIGHT OR A MORE EXTENDED STAY ....TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH ITS ABOUT AS CLOSE TO A HOME SETTING IVE EXPERIENCED IN A MOTEL EVER ! IF THEY WERE A LARGER PROPERTY AND WERE HIRING ....I WOULD APPLY IMMEDIATELY PLACES LIKE THIS ARE A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH BOTH FOR GUESTS AND EMPLOYEES ....WHATEVER YOURE DOING HERE MANAGEMENT ..... WAY TO GO AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!! FYI IM NOT JUST BOASTING FOR NO REASON I WAS AN ASSISTANT MANAGER IN THE MEDICAL CENTER FOR YEARS AND I WORKED FOR A PROPERTY THAT HELD TO HIGH STANDARDS OF RESIDENT RETENTION AND SATISFACTION....SO FOR ME TO WRITE THIS IS NOT FOR ANY PURPOSE OTHER THAN TO COMMEND THOSE WHO IM SURE WORK HARD EVERYDAY TO MAKE THIS SPOT THE SPOT TO...

This review, really needs to be sent to corporate. I booked 2 room on priceline on 04/20/2025. when I arrived at the location. I asked the attendees do you have connecting rooms. He replied "No" so I told him that I needed my rooms to be connected and he said I'm sorry I cannot help you. So we all left the location and went to the hotel competition, which they were able to accommodate our needs with no issues and also gave us a $25 dollar discount on the bill plus free parking. Now here is where the issue comes in, since I did not stay at American Best Value Inn. The Manager Rick stated I am not going to refund your money or cancel your reservation. He also stated it's just like when you go to the airport and you miss your flight the plane still takes off. My reply was the plane takes off but the airlines will book you on a later flight or give you credit. Rick did not want to do neither. All I ask for Rick to do was to cancel the reservation. So I can be refunded back by priceline. Rick refused to do that also he wants to keep the $31 deposit plus $93. Additional for 2 rooms we never used. The Manager Rick showed now professional management skills he never thought of customer satisfaction first. And I believe corporate needs to send Rick to management retraining on customer service. Because he truly did not have any. Furthermore I drove to the hotel to talk to the manager Rick in person. Rick nor any employee behind the counter never came to the window after I stood there for 15 minutes ringing the bell on the counter. To me that shows you American Best Value Inn. Is being operating very shady. I will give this location no stars and I will NOT recommend this location for a homless person to stay at for free. I personally would not recommend this location to no one. Please stay away if you don't want...
