So Fairchild Park is an amazing place, pickleball and tennis courts could use a bit of love, but that would be nit-picking. There's am amazing and very diverse community of people congregate at FC park to take part in the different sports available, and do so respectfully, curtiously and happily. I go 6 out of 7 days a week to play pickleball and not once have I encountered any bad vibes. Great ppl good fun I recommend it 100%.
Now the cons, FC park is located in an older part of downtown San Antonio which is getting cleaned up and in and around you can unfortunately hear gunshots every now and then, some a bit to close for comfort, but there's a police presence in the area and no one has ever been hurt to the best of my knowledge. Then there's th Mas quantities of new pickleball players who don't know how important the rotation and playing with your skill level, makes the play experience alot better for everyone and it's more efficient. Other than that it have great vibes...
Read moreOk, I'm a pickleball player and only been hear twice. The staff is great and the pickleballers are also great. The courts are good not great, but the nets are very good. There is a slope to them and some cracks on the courts that make it a little more challenging and that to me is a good thing. Meeting new people in pickleball is what you want to do and this is a great place to start finding people to play with and it is free. Great place for 3.5players to practice shots and spins to improve on. I am for sure coming back to play as the people are nice and fun...
Read moreNice courts, overpacked on Tuesday night. Some “elite players” create challenge courts to where friends can’t play casually. More than happy to rotate in and out as I understand court hogging is an issue that needs to be addressed.
Staff Olympian disrupted friendly game (1st game mind you & we had gotten there prior to any line) to state the unspoken rules as if they were park rules. Would be 4 stars other than that.
Will have to find another park on summer evenings to play friendly games...
