Marina the meat department manager in the restaurant side embrassed me in front of other customers. It was my first time visiting this place so I don't know their rules. I saw some cups by the salsa bar and I decided to get them to fill them with cilantro onion and lemons so I can sit and eat . She grab them from my table took them and said if you want these you need to pay me $2.59 per cup ($7.77 total) in a rude loud voice . I expressed that I didn't know I had to pay for that and thought she was overchagering me . She went on yelling that I should of not grab those cups that the cups cost her and that she now can't put the cilantro lemons and onions back on the bar that I'm causing her to waste it . I expressed to her I didn't know and that I would not do it the next time . Then she told me " well next time don't come back" That's what got me upset : who is she to tell me not to come back, it's rude .
You can tell she has no respect to customers - when I arrived we were in a line and she yelled to everyone "move the line to this side" didn't say please or thank you!
It seems to me she's been in the company for a while that she feels so comfortable or secure . Owner needs to have a talk to her - she needs to know that because of customers she has her job! Customers should be treated...
Read moreI have purchased tamales and other products that we cannot get in the ArkLaTex, where we live, at Culebra’s for years. The price of tamales was $11.99/dozen. I thought “Ok!” Ingredient and labor costs have gone up. I bought 5 dozen. (I usually buy 10 dozen!) This morning we looked forward to having tamales for breakfast. I was so disappointed! The tamales were masa balls with a very thin ribbon of meat and were probably 3” long. We ate dough balls. They were horrible! I, also, purchased raw barbacoa so I could cook it myself. I asked the price and was told $1.99/lb. I was distracted and didn’t notice the label on the meat package until I got home last night. I, also, didn’t see the meat because of the wrapping. I was charged $5.99/lb. and it was more fat than meat. In today’s world we are more careful about how we spend our money. We don’t mind having to pay for “luxuries” but I don’t want to be cheated either. Culebra cheated us! If you live in San Antonio…do not shop there. I am on the lookout for a Mexican product store that...
Read moreGood Mexican market. They tend to run out refried beans by 4:00 pm. There are a lot things that are good food already made to buy, lots of meat, and some things that are cheaper somewhere else. Their soda is expensive, but soda is expensive everywhere. I usually just go for the Mexican rice, refried beans, Mexican sweetbread, and restaurant style chips.
UPDATE: The prices have gone up over the years. It seems like almost everyhting in their market is too expensive. HEB and Walmart are a lot cheaper. The Cashier girls seem to have an attitude. No one is friendly and no one smiles. They seem to be prejudice toward Mexican-American, Tejanos, and/or Hispanics. They only prefer Spanish speakers from Latin America. The employees hate using English and only want to speak Spanish and then give you an angry attitude when they are forced to speak English. The food at their restaurant is still good. Thanks to their grandma cook. And their meat market area has wide-selection of good meat. But, it's beginning to be not worth...
