I absolutely love this spot so much! It’s a hidden gem in the vast networks of gardens and plazas within the entirety of Balboa Park. I’m a landscape architect and such a nerd for landscapes so I did some research on this garden. Here’s some history on Alcazar Garden.
It was named because its design is patterned after the gardens of Alcazar Castle in Seville, Spain, lies adjacent to the Art Institute and Mingei Museum. It is known for its ornate fountains, exquisite turquoise blue, yellow, and green Moorish tiles and shady pergola.

The reason for only three stars is that they paid to rent the garden, and there weren't even signs at the numerous entries letting people know there was a private event going on. I'm not asking for bouncers, but a sign so courteous people could avoid walking through wedding preparations would be nice. The gawkers are slightly annoying. Also guests need to plan on standing through the ceremony, so keep it short and sweet! There would be no complaints if they had just reserved the garden and not paid, but if you are paying for something, you'd think there would be some acknowledgement of a wedding taking place so people can know before interrupting...

It's a little off to the side from the main area but tends to be a little more peaceful and quiet as not to many people stray from the main path at Balboa. It's a little garden that you can walk around in and it has plenty of benches to sit down and relax and admire your surroundings. It's also a fun little place to people watch and see the best of the best of San Diego walk by (sarcasm, you won't believe how many wierdos you're surrounded by). There's also a ton of Pokestops...
