Iconic bridge built in 1915 that connects Laurel Street (which becomes El Prado after crossing 6th street) with the heart of Balboa Park. Highway 163 runs directly under the bridge.

Has nice views of downtown San Diego when looking South off the bridge and of the planes landing at airport (even a peekaboo view of Coronado Bridge)

Views of San Diego Zoo looking North; plus lots of greenspace and Eucalyptus & Palm trees.

Great views of the California Tower as you walk across the bridge (hurry, the tower will be closed Feb 15+/- for a year+ for earthquake retrofitting).

People often park for free in the West side of Balboa Park near 6th and walk across the bridge to the museum's.

Very nice spot during sunsets with the old fashion street lights glowing.

If this was helpful info please like my review! Enjoy...

Happy days are here again! Construction on the post-tension cables is over and this historical bridge is reopened for car and pedestrian traffic! If you peer over the south-facing side, you'll catch views of Coronado Bridge, the downtown skyline (El Cortez sign, new library dome!), and even folks with their bows and arrows in the archery range beneath you. This is my favorite entrance to take visitors through for the first time... and just a stunning, sight to walk along to catch the cool exhibits at the Museum of Man or an outdoor play at the Old Globe. Hello gorgeous background...
