Unfortunately this school is not even close to a good university. This university cannot be compared to Harvard, UCSD, or even Devry. Below are some reasons why:

  1. They are nationally accredited. Once you start with this school you must complete with them. You do have the option of transferring out but none of their credits will count. As oppose to schools like National University or SDSU who are regionally accredited (WASC accreditation is always better).

  2. The university's Financial Aid Department is the worst. Jean Foster, who runs this department even if it does not say so on paper, is probably the most unknowledgeable human I’ve worked with. The university is not even qualified to give out half of the grants the other schools are (no Cal Grants). You will sign documents that state that once you are enrolled in courses, you should receive your living expenses. However, you will only receive your money when the university "feels" that you are a safe candidate and will not harm their retention rate. They do not trust their students. Even though the documents you signed do not state that this condition will apply. This is unethical behavior. By the way, work study is not available.

  3. If you look up this university on Wikipedia you will learn that it is the same school as Pacific Western. Pacific Western is notorious for giving away diplomas to students who never found a job. The staff and management is the same people. Specifically the president of the University is the same person. He still receives letters from students of the past. They question why he promised that their degrees will be accredited and have lied to them.

  4. They are a very limited school. If you want any majors that are useful in the job market (engineering, mathematics, sciences) they do not have any available. Don't bother showing up to the school, just call them and check. They have one classroom in their entire "campus" which the staff also uses as a conference room and a lunchroom. You have no choice of teachers, which you would in any other university. They have one person for each course and that is it. Supposedly you have a choice of electives (or specialties) but you do not. Because of their low number of students, there are only very few courses that are available at a time so you are stuck with what is available. Compare this to other schools where many staff members and teachers are available for help.

I understand that most students do not have enough time to do extensive research, but making time to learn more about a university you will be attending in the next 2-4 years is very important. Time and money will be wasted otherwise. If you visit their site the only example of someone doing anything post-graduation is someone going back to Peace Corps (she was already part of this organization before attending this university). I will not be attending college to not change my life. Please read their BBB report. They do false advertising....

Having retired as a senior officer in the military, and continuing with a successful second career, I chose to pursue a graduate level degree. I looked at some of the other universities in the San Diego area and even attended one of the more recognized universities but later dropped realizing that the other university is nothing but a degree paper mill and willing to accept any potential student that was willing to pay. What I found in the classroom at the other university was a hodge podge of professors that taught at an undergraduate level and essentially insulted my intelligence throughout my stay. It by no means was a graduate level class and I consequently dropped the program and left the university.

Now let me introduce the university I should have chosen in the first place, California Miramar University! Upon walking in the administrative office of CMU, I was immediately taken back by the friendliness and genuine interest of the staff, particular the Director of Operations. Invited in her office, I explained my desire to take my education to another level and pursue a graduate degree, specifically an MBA. I was introduced to core class requirements and offered various electives that were required to achieve my specific degree path. I decided to pursue CMU because of the way I was treated and that was warmly and professionally. After two years of classes that were both thought-provoking and stimulating, I received my well-earned MBA. Throughout my time at CMU, I was challenged by the professors, elevated my ability to think in a broader perspective and given the opportunity to express myself and my opinions. My fellow classmates were all professionals who brought an intellectual insight to classroom discussions and projects. I cannot think of a better learning experience. CMU are pro military to both active duty and retired veterans. They submit paperwork immediately ensuring all benefits that the military are due are paid in full and on time. Never once did I have a problem with finance. I am so impressed with the university that I have begun a Master of Science in Leadership in an effort to obtain my second graduate degree.

On numerous occasions, I have been recognized by government leadership for the different perspective I now bring to high level conferences due to the attainment of my MBA from CMU. I cannot speak enough positive thoughts about the university and recommend to all I encounter who are seeking an education...

CALMU is a great place to go to if you want a world class MBA at a reasonable cost. I am a product of distant education and I can tell you although this school may not have the pedigree of a Yale or a Harvard, its academic program can go toe to toe with the best of them. I got my undergrad at a traditional brick and Mortar school and I can tell you that CALMU’s professors are top notch. Not only, they challenge you with an academically fulfilling curriculum but also understand that students who choose to get a degree online are trying to balance a work and school life. Lastly, from a cost perspective the school’s tuition is one fourth of what you would expect to pay elsewhere. I plan on graduating debt free with an MBA, and this not a statement many students can make. Give them a try and you will not be...
