Overall the design is beautiful for a stadium. What a massive improvement over the previous structure and design. I'd like to that several of the parking lots had assumingly much cooler to park on but they were closed so I didn't get to experience them first hand. We attended the first concert there on Saturday night and I think they have some growing pains to work through. Parking was sold out yet there were two parking lots on the west side that were open which gave mixed messages. Only a handful of people were parked in them throughout the entire evening And it was closed for access when we arrived. With it being a concert venue versus game day there were hundreds And with the seating capacity potentially over a thousand people With floor seats like we had that did not have a clear direction on how to enter the stadium. We went through 2 separate security entrances and were scanned and by the time we had to scanner ticket. We were then told we were at the wrong gate. All of the people parked on the southwest side of the stadium and directly south of the stadium had to walk three quarters of the way around the entire stadium to enter. The irony is that we were able to exit on the west side. The assumption is probably that the main parking lot is on The East Side of the stadium but you had a 1000 people parked on the Southeast that had no idea that they would have to walk so far around 3/4 of the. Stadium to get To the floor access entry. In addition there was an extra line that you had to stand in For wristbands for the floor seating. So they send you through security to get checked and scan your ticket. And then you walk about 20 steps and you get in a separate line for floor seating which should have all been done at that time we scanned our ticket. That extra line waiting time in the beginning when people started arriving was almost thirty minutes. It is not listed in the FAQs to know this ahead of time. There were 2 opening acts Before the headliner on Saturday night and halfway through the second act Someone decided to move all of the seating section directional Signs on the floor Out of the way. So people that were still entering the stadium did not have the large Section A, B C etc to Help them find their way. Also section B seating towords the end of the Bs Started in a completely separate section so if you bought tickets In section c row one you were actually Behind 3 or 4 rows of people. We will be back in two months for another concert there and I hope they work out these...
Read moreFirst, let's just establish the fact that this stadium was designed/built by a company that has NEVER designed/built a stadium before - and it's blatantly obvious! It's San Diego and it gets hot! Very few areas of seating are in the shade. To make matters worse, because of how it sits on the property, there's very little wind going through. So folks are going to be buying more alcoholic and dehydrating soda beverages to cool down and that's a recipe for bad stuff happening to people who spend hundreds of dollars for tickets to the venue. While buying those beverages they will not be able to see the game unless there's a monitor close by - which are few and far between unless you have club access. The food and beverage venues have super expensive but good choices to choose from, although while waiting in line, there's no shade! It's always fun to walk around and check things out to enhance my stadium experience. Usually, you can kind of keep an eye on the game/event from the walkway that goes around the stadium - not Snapdragon! When you walk around there's no view from most of the walkway. There's a lot of "choke points" in the narrow stairwells too. Seats in the north end zone have railings in front of them that obstruct the view for kids. Why are those railings there? Getting to/from my seats wasn't very easy either. The parking situation doesn't make sense as well. My seat was on the east side of the stadium, but my parking pass is on the west side. The entrances are on the east and north sides! The trolley stop is on the South side! The streets of the parking lot have names that have no connection to San Diego or its people, like "Jacaranda Rd"! How about "Aztec Way" or "Wave Blvd"?? I could go on and on about how the Snapdragon layout doesn't make sense, but it is a shiny new stadium that San Diego desperately needed. We will NEVER have a pro football team here again since Snapdragon only holds approximately 30K people - the NFL would laugh their heads off at us! Am I glad we have something that we call a stadium in San Diego? Yes! But we could have done so much better. Will I keep going to events? Yes, because I'm a die-hard fan, but not because of the Stadium. Sorry, but I'm just...
Read moreThere's really not a bad seat. All have clear views to the field. I found the actual seats to be a little on the flimsy side. They're not a thick stadium seat like Petco or what SDCCU stadium had. They're not bad, but they may be a little uncomfortable for some.
They allow you to bring in an empty refillable bottle and there are water refill stations located in areas around the stadium. This was convenient and will definitely save you money if all you want is water. A bottle of Aquafina water sells for $5.
Beer/cocktails are available all around the stadium. Prices start from $12 for the Cutwater cans and $13.50 for a 24oz domestic draft. Premium and craft beers are slightly more (~$15.50). You are allowed to tailgate in the parking lots, but I took the trolley in so I didn't experience how that went.
There are quite a lot of food options including Hodad's, Crack Shack, Gaglione Bros, Best Pizza & Brew, Cali BBQ, and a few more on top of the regular concessions. Prices are similar to Petco park. I think the cheapest item I saw was a slice of cheese pizza at Best Pizza & Brew for $6. The pepperoni slice was $7. Both looked like they were a decent size (similar to what you get from Pizza Port at Petco).
If you're taking the trolley, be sure to take the Green line. Only that one will go past the stadium stop. On the way back, there was quite a large line waiting to buy tickets at the 2 pay stations on the street level (before heading up to the trolley platform). This was avoidable as the pay stations on the trolley platform were not being used and you could easily pay there as well. My recommendation is to download the Pronto app and add your funds prior to your trip. There are a lot of Pronto scanning terminals and it's quicker and easier than waiting in line to buy a ticket.
The sound system was very impressive. Instead of a few large speakers that blare the sound from one or two main areas, there are a ton of smaller speakers everywhere. No matter where you're seated, it's a really comfortable volume.
Overall, I am really impressed. Especially with the great views from...
