I fell in love immediately with the atmosphere of this vintage warehouse setting that's right next to the railway. The rumbling sound of the train on the tracks and its wailing horn makes you feel like you've stepped into another period of time in San Diego. I find myself needing more than an hour to look at everything!
Antique & unique chandeliers & pendant lights hang from the rafters. Artwork, old and new, decks the walls of the upper and lower levels.
Vintage and name brand furniture (Ethan Allen, Broyhill, Nichols & Stone, just to name a few), glassware, mirrors, momentos, rugs, lamps, pottery, and outdoor items from times gone by are mixed about in small cozy room arrangements. Somehow, they make it work.
Glassware, fine china, tea cups, pottery, and dishes line the shelves of the front and back of the store and can be found mixed into vintage and modern China cabinets, buffets, and table settings
Every nook, every turn, every corner holds a delightful find. More than you can imagine.
I have found many things here to bring home at prices below department and online shopping store prices. And because it's consignment items, the prices drop every 30 days til the end of the consignment contract or it's sold.
Beware that items you consign can be misplaced, damaged, lost, or even stolen from here. It's pretty wide open, and I found one of my items missing. Some have had scuff marks. If you sell something, the consignment contract states very clearly that the shop is not responsible for any of the above.
The folks that work here "do" work hard, taking in furniture all day as well as moving it about and making room for more furniture and items. So be prepared to go on a treasure hunt for your consigned item or something you had your eye on.
The manager, Laura, is a sweetheart and a "walking Google search engine." She is an excellent source for history and information on vintage items at the shop.
It may not be Cheers, where everyone knows your name, but the staff is very friendly and will remember you as you visit more often and always be ready with a smile.
There is another great Consignment Classics shop in Encinitas, but this one is my favorite place.
This is San Diego, and a showcase of the people who have lived here and...

I’ve been shopping at all of the consignment classics for decades, as well as my entire family, and I am shocked at the awful business practices that transpired at the Hancock location. My mother was selling a couch which they priced at $10,000 and the 90 days expired, which clearly states in the contract that it needs to be moved. They sold the couch, never gave her a courtesy call, maybe 7 days before expiration? Maybe just a simple call letting her know that they were reducing the price by a few thousand dollars??? She wasn’t selling a simple $5 ceramic pot or a simple $25 chair or $2 dish, this was a HUGE substantial, beautiful black leather couch with a marble base from LA. I would think that an item priced at this much, priced more than any item I have ever seen there, they would have shown her just a little attention and respect to my 82 year old mother, and as a courtesy, given her just a simple two minute call for her to pick it up. Her couch is gone and she never got a penny, they pocketed 100%. I just happened to randomly be there and it was gone, I asked where it was, and they said they sold it. S H A D E Y

And for the record, I NEVER post anything on social media, reviews, but I...
Read moreMy husband and I visited this location for the first time today. The amount of home furnishings was an over load of so many different styles. If my house was bigger I would have walked away with so much more. Spotted this sofa table when we arrived. We found some other items we liked but narrowed it down to this one and it’s a perfect fit. I was told this table had just arrived. Not sure if it was within a few days or weeks but the fact we scored this table was amazing. It’s definitely heavy duty for the most part. The feet are a tad damaged but nothing we can’t fix. We didn’t notice it until we got home because we were worried it wouldn’t fit into my vehicle. So our focus was on getting the table to fit. The staff were great. I look forward to going back. There was a bed frame we loved but had to decide which one we were going to take today due to vehicle spacing.
So my advise is look at everything on the item you are looking at before buying.
I still walked away with an awesome piece. With...
