I am appalled to recount my unfortunate experience at the Fairfield Marriott in Old Town San Diego, where my one-handed, Down syndrome-afflicted two-year-old child was falsely accused of damaging their pack n play. To make matters worse, this heartless establishment proceeded to charge me for the alleged damage. The actions of the Fairfield Marriott represent an unforgivable level of cruelty, discrimination, and greed, and I strongly advise against choosing this hotel.
Accusing a defenseless child, particularly one with special needs, of causing damage is beyond reprehensible. The Fairfield Marriott in Old Town San Diego demonstrated a complete lack of compassion and understanding by targeting my innocent child. Their unjust accusation not only tarnishes the reputation of this establishment but also highlights their willingness to exploit vulnerable individuals for financial gain.
The fact that the staff had the audacity to attribute the damage to my child's one-handed disability is an absolute outrage. It is a clear display of ignorance, insensitivity, and discrimination. Instead of acknowledging and accommodating my child's unique circumstances, the hotel chose to cast unwarranted blame upon them. This heartless action has left my family devastated and deeply hurt.
What is even more distressing is the manner in which the Fairfield Marriott handled this situation. The staff showed no interest in hearing our side of the story or providing any semblance of understanding. Their callous and confrontational approach only further compounded our anguish. It is disgraceful to witness such a lack of professionalism, empathy, and basic human decency.
To add insult to injury, the hotel proceeded to charge me for the alleged damage caused by my child. This unjust and exorbitant charge is a clear attempt to exploit our vulnerability and squeeze additional funds from an already traumatized family. It is an act of greed that further underscores the Fairfield Marriott's complete disregard for fairness and integrity.
Beyond this despicable incident, the overall experience at the Fairfield Marriott in Old Town San Diego was far from satisfactory. The condition of the hotel and its amenities fell short of basic standards. The rooms were poorly maintained and unclean, and the level of service was abysmal. It is evident that this establishment prioritizes profit over the well-being and satisfaction of their guests.
In conclusion, my stay at the Fairfield Marriott in Old Town San Diego was marred by a heartless false accusation against my disabled two-year-old child, an unjust and exploitative charge, a lack of compassion and understanding, and an overall disregard for basic principles of decency and fairness. I implore all prospective guests to choose an alternative accommodation that embraces inclusivity, compassion, and respect for all individuals. The Fairfield Marriott Old Town San Diego's actions are inexcusable and have left a lasting impact on my family, forever tarnishing our memories of this...
Read moreLove this hotel. It's a classic old town gem in my opinion. Managers are warm friendly and accommodate your needs and requests. The other staff I've not had much interaction with but must say housekeepers do a great job, maintained well clean pool and common areas are all clean. Room is up to marriott and fairfield standards. It's not a 5 star resort It's a family friendly reasonably priced hotel in a great location in old Town. Close to restaurants and tourist stuff of old town, walking distance. The night manager who checks me in always is a wealth of options for food in old town and around the area. I last arrived at 10pm on last visit here in March this year 2023 - had not eaten yet and manager gave easy directions to restaurants still open even verified hours, super helpful. Unlike some hotels you go to and the hotel staff is like " I'm not sure " or just seem out of it as to directions and things to do which doesn't ever make sense to me. Shouldn't a hotel staff be able to give basic area things to do and know stuff they work in the area , that to me is irritating when at hotels like the Bayside best western or holiday Inn in Point loma ( nearby) the staff are either clueless or just not engaged in their careers. The fairfield is way way better than those two hotels about same price and within two miles. Oh and did I mention free breakfast and self parking , no valet nonsense. Personally I love this place because of the location and staff, free breakfast, reasonably priced covered underground parking, will say street parking is maybe available but I do see broken glass on curbs from breakins, has to be its window glass and have heard of the homeless going thru cars its not just san francisco and Portland. I suggest the paid parking its safer and covered. Less than $20 & I know my car will be there its patrolled and hotel has hotel security at night always a plus. Overall area is safe lots of San diego police drive by going to and from airport and to the nearby police station. Old town is fun day and night fairfield is choice for so many reasons no place is perfect but it's also not $500 a night no resort fee but in my opinion for a night or 3 it's more than I need. Clean, safe , reasonably priced , free breakfast close to old town , point loma , seaworld, airport , and liberty Station. The transit station is 400 yards away. When I come to san diego I always consider the old town fairfield, it's on my go to list and the hotels # is in my contacts on my phone. I suggest it, but anyplace with a pool/ spa and a Peloton is for me add free breakfast and walking distance to 5 bars and...
Read moreUnfortunately, our experience was not pleasant at this hotel. I reserved two rooms, one for my wife and I, another for my son and his wife. We stayed for 5 nights and my son and his wife stayed 4 nights.
Upon arrival, both rooms were ready the day of our arrival by 3pm which was prior to check in and a nice surprise, as it's not guaranteed when requested. However; both rooms were not very clean. Both rooms appeared to not have been vacuumed or poorly vacuumed, as there were balls of hair or dust bunnies around most of the edges. The walls in our room were outright gross and appeared as though someone had a food fight or smeared something across the walls and ceiling. Besides the rusty and broken fixtures in the bathroom, the previous guests hair was all over the floor, toilet and shower walls. The condition of the bathroom in my sons room was similar, so I'm guessing this not an isolated occurrence. We took the time to clean some of the mess ourselves and didn't bother with the staff, below is why.
The two younger female desk clerks working set the tone (both AM and PM) seeming more interested in their social media, displaying zero customer service skills from the get go and throughout our stay with three trips to the desk. I also found an iPhone in the fitness room and took it to the front desk to a young female clerk who gave me a blank stare and placed it in a drawer, literally not saying anything. Upon checking out, I hand delivered the room keys to the front desk where the same young female employee was working. Yet again, she displayed the inability to provide a positive customer service experience or even acknowledge us checking out.
Prior to checking out, at approximately 8:45am, a member of the cleaning crew unlocked the door, opened it and announced "housekeeping". I said "hello" back and they quickly shut the door. I opened the door and tried to confirm with the employee check out was at 12 (according to the hotels info in the Marriott Bonvoy app). The worker didn't speak much English but relayed check out was at 11. Either way, it was extremely unprofessional to enter the room while announcing "housekeeping", versus attempting to knock first, giving us an opportunity to answer the door.
The breakfast was okay and what you would expect for an included amenity. Not many healthy options with the exception of oatmeal and Greek yogurt. The breakfast staff did a good job trying to keep the food stocked. Read the rest on...
