THE SINGLE WORST HAIRCUT I HAVE EVER HAD! First off, I want to clarify that I rarely leave reviews and this is the first negative review I have ever written. I feel the need to leave this review to save others from having the same experience I have had. I sat down and was asked how I would like my hair to be cut. I happily told the lady I would like a #3 on the sides and a #7 on top, clarifying that I would like the longest hair on my head to be 3/4" long. She says okay and gets to it. We have a pleasant conversation about my recent move to the city and what part of town I live in. She starts off with the #7 comb on top, but she is going in the wrong direction with it, laying my hair down and just sliding over the top. She does this 6 or 7 times, then goes at it from a slight angle, still barely knicking the 2" or 2.5" hairs. She stops, having made hardly any difference and asks, "Shorter?" I say, "Yeah, down to three-quarters of an inch." She goes at it again in the wrong direction, acting as if she has never cut hair before. Then she switches out the comb on the clippers for a longer one, telling me that my hair "has a wave to it". This comb prevents her from cutting any hair at all, so she switches back to the first comb. Then she stop and asks again, "Is that good, or shorter still?" I tell her, "A little more. It's still pretty long." The hairs are still at least 2" long on the top of my head. She goes at it again, this time from the front and moving toward the back, making more progress, but still the hairs are longer than an inch and a half. She stops and asks again, "Shorter still?" I sort of laugh and tell her, "You can bring them down to three-quarters of an inch." I hold up my fingers to demonstrate that length. She says okay, then turns me away from the mirror for the rest of the haircut. At times during the haircut, I notice she is using the clippers with no comb at all, freestyle, holding them with both hands and making a jabbing motion at the side of my head to get the hairs. She holds up a mirror for me a few times, but points it over my head or at my chin instead of just turning me back around to see. After 40 minutes of sitting in her chair feeling like she was experimenting with all the tools available to her on her first day, she holds the mirror up for me again and asks if I like it. At first glance, in the little mirror it looks okay, so I say great. She thanks me and I go to pay. I am told at the time of check out that the credit/debit machine is broken and I can pay in cash only. The ATM in the parking lot charges me $3. I made this appointment a day in advance. A heads up on the credit problem would have been nice. I walk out and notice I am completely plastered in hair, not unusual after a haircut, but still unpleasant. Upon arriving home, I look in my bathroom mirror to discover that the left side of my hair is significantly longer than the right side. The right side is about right with .75" on top, .3 inches on the side.. But the left side is at least 1.5" on top, all the way from the midpoint on my head to the back edge of the top. I spend the next half hour in the bathroom with a pair of scissors, cutting my own hair. There were 5 or 6 inch-long hairs over each ear, hanging down, touching my ears. I eventually got the top to be more or less even. The top/back was nearly impossible to do myself, but my roommate says it looks good now. I just can't figure out what this lady was doing to my hair for 40 minutes. Maybe it was legitimately her first day, and if that is the case, then I take it all back, but that wasn't the feeling I got. She should find another gig because cutting hair is...
Read moreI’ll be back for sure! As of 2025, they’re offering a standard fade and trim for $14 ($8 for Mil), which is about $25-30 less than comparable shops in the area. Really an incredible deal.
Most importantly I’m happy with my cut but there are a few other benefits: I waited all of 5 minutes to get in the chair which is also something that I care about. The cut was also no more than 10 minutes. In and out in under 20 minutes.
One of the cool things that I really liked is that all the clippers have a mini vacuum built into them, so when you get up, you’re not really dusty or require an immediate shower, which is good if you’re in the middle of running errands.
Additionally, they’re open every day of the week which is also unheard of. Super convenient too, right on Miramar road across from the base....
Read moreI love this place. They are excellent. I love the women there. They are superior to every barbershop I have been to in the last 10 years. The woman who is the manager or owner is always so nice.
They are definitely professional stylists.
Some barbershops only cut hair in only one or two styles because of the neighborhood or because a military base is nearby. Not Lee's. These women are very, very skilled and attend to every detail. They are by far the best place and have excellent service. The waiting time is sometimes long, but that's because there are many people who want a haircut that moment or day. Other times, there is no waiting at all. They are not expensive and you definitely should tip them. They...
