I organize Events via FB, Meetup and Eventbrite. I am also part of multiple businesses as in Utah where before Covid we had group experience camps w up to 100 students where we take them hiking, horseback riding, California Experiences and more. I split my time multiple times a year mostly between Florida, SoCal and Utah where I and others host/guide events. Today was an event for Kayaking. The event is Free except for kayak rental if needed. I moved to San Diego in 84, my 34yo Daughter was born here. It is my Special Home City but as many places and w events the number of no-shows can be high regardless of who organizes. SoCal has a repratation of having people who will flake out(not inform)not show or be late. Seen it as an electrician here and other know this even natives. Todays event ended up only having 2young Asian Girls/Ladies and because of the small number vs about 10registered Going I informed them that kayaking was easy on the bay and a not so cold sunny day with there friends would be more fun. I found out they had Ubered from around Fashion Valley Area so offered them a ride since next event, a walking event didn't happen till 6P. They were appreciative as I was just trying to be a nice person, which there still are. Felt bad they paid for an Uber and event was a no-go. Earlier I hosted 5 of us that I had never met before on a Bike Ride Event. A Supervisor Lady asked the 2 girls if they knew me and a young couple involved themselves they were profiling me and also it was embarrassing. Also the Supervisor Lady acted like I harassed the young girls working renting kayaks which is rather funny unless saying that SoCal is nationwide known to be with many flaky people. This is true and again "I Love San Diego" consider it HOME and many know what I said is true. Florida has many similar issues also. Of Free events a 50% show vs no-show ratio is good. If anything I said was offensive or mean San Diego or hopefully just these few people has gotten way to fragile. No-One even cared to min. know me. This was out and out unjust Profiling which I bet all parties involved are against. Hypocrisy is the vaccine this country needs. We will look for somewhere else for kaying events and also with any travel groups we bring to the area. Will still do the Mission Bay Bikeabout and Walkabout from the area as both were done without an issue today. Even one lady has done 3 events I have hosted/guided and is doing another tomorrow along with a couple driving 200+ miles to do the event. Just trying to be a Goodwill Ambassador vs whatever you all were auto...
Read moreWas our first time paddle boarding, the staff was very nice and explained how to do it, the staff was great, I even forgot something and they were very quick to find my name and number and call me before I drove too far away and I was able to pick it up relatively quickly.
The facilities are nice; we were very happy to see they had lockers included with the price, lots of stuff for rent, tons of options, life jackets or a much easier to wear emergency fanny pack thing if you don't want a bulky life jacket, which is fantastic. We even had a class or something using their facilities as well and everything was still impressively smooth and with all the equipment available.
The bay is great but pay attention to the current, we got a bit far out and the trip back was a little harder. Pretty popular bay but the water is still overall relatively calm even with some boats slowly going around. Was a great first paddle boarding experience, thank you, glad we...
Read moreWe have rented from here a few times. When we visit Mission we love to paddle board. We love the peace of hanging bay side where the water is calm. On our last trip my son broke a paddle . We were all paddling together and are not sure how it happened. I took the paddle back to get a new one and they exchanged it. On our way back in the Manager started yelling at my son. He was a real jerk! He could have easily explained that we needed to pay for it. He could have talked to us in a normal matter but instead he started screaming “you need to pay for that”. It was obviously a accident since we couldn’t even figure out how it happened. Instead of arguing we paid for the paddle but I think he really needs to know that you don’t yell at customer. It is so disrespectful and uncalled for. We won’t be renting from here again and hope others don’t have the...
