The Catamaran Spa — Local services in San Diego

My friend and I went here for my 40th birthday to splurge on ourselves for a change. What a fantastic experience! From the booking process through to the end, the service was so friendly and excellent, and all the staff really set you at ease.

I usually don't see males for massages but the ones here (I'm so sorry I'm really bad with names) went out of his way to put you at ease with explaining the process and draping correctly, plus he had really soft hands! My friend and I both said it was the best pedicure we've ever had. The salon looks out over a zen garden and Phuong is such a perfectionist about your nails! It was also my first facial and the esthetician put me at ease and I didn't feel judged about my skin at all.

The grounds were lovely, looking out onto a nice beach with a snack stand and kayak rentals, with a restaurant attached that was so yummy (try the Panna Cotta!) And there was an Indian wedding going on out on the grassy area. It was so colorful and joyful, we really enjoyed the atmosphere and wish the couple well! The Jacuzzi did not feel overly chlorinated which was great for my sensitive skin. My friend and I are also so sensitive to synthetic fragrance and you will not find any here! Just amazing smelling essential oils. And they all ask if you are allergic to anything first! And they don't pressure you into buying products!

They are awesome about parking too. We had several services and were on the grounds for more than the 6 hours of validated parking and they took care of it for us. Even the prices were not as ridiculous as some other resorts in the area. All the other guests were pretty chill and friendly, taking photos for each other and chatting about birthdays. Honestly 6/5 stars, can't wait...

NEW REVIEW: 2ND VISIT after the incredible initial experience we decided to come back. Unfortunantly this time it was a polar opposite experience. Sadly Jen the amazing staff member had quit. The girl at the front desk Hannah was not pleasant. The massage itself (didn't catch the name) was blah and not very good, nice person, not a good massage though. I went back to the front to book a couples massage on a monthly basis and long short after Hannah denied my girlfriend from joining for a poolside seat and was difficult to talk to we decided not to come back again and would advise that both customers and management pay close attention to the staff hired. This ruined my experience. My girlfriend had surprised me with a relaxing day instead she overspend. I got a lousy massage bad front facing staff and a bad experience. Really had looked forward to making this the go to escape once a month but it is now a never again. Entirely all about people. I run a business and it's the same thing, everyone knows the services but the expectation is exceeding by the quality of the staff... or derailed. In this case the latter. Contact me to fix this or we will continue to advise people that sadly the catamarant has gone downhill badly and recommend they go elsewhere.

I visited the Catamaran Spa a bit over a month ago and I am still enjoying the benefits from my massage with Shawna. I got the basic massage. Shawna was friendly, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. She was thorough in asking questions about my symptoms, my problem areas and the type of massage experience I was seeking. I shared I had been feeling tightness in the hips and hamstrings, something that has been a chronic discomfort since my childhood. She explained a bit of the anatomy and how some muscles work together. The massage was so beneficial and I enjoyed my experience. That day I felt I walked away with a great massage and new knowledge on how to care for my body. I have not experienced hip discomfort since. My hamstring still needs work but nothing compared to how it felt prior to my massage with Shawna. Thanks so much Shawna! The Catamaran spa facilities were very clean, the front desk staff was friendly and the private beach CANNOT be beat. I lounged at the pool but wasn’t tempted to get in.
