Rancho Peñasquitos Branch Library — Attraction in San Diego

I forgot something at the library accidentally over the weekend. I called a few days later, Isabel picked up the phone. When I asked about my missing item, she went through the lost and found for me, put it aside, marked it with my name, and notified other staff members that I would be coming to pick it up later. Hard to find people that care enough about their work like Isabel does.

Besides the great staff, library is quite nice. I went while they were doing music lessons for children in community. Quite loud, but most patrons understand that library is for reading and finding books.

Friends of the bookstore is quite large and I usually find something that I want to purchase. New books are four each, older ones can be bought at two dollars. I usually spend $3-10 a visit, roughly once a quarter. I usually frequent...

If you are looking for a quiet work space to get your stuff done, I’d suggest you rather go to a loud Starbucks because I can assure you, this library is louder.

Kids are screaming every second, which only adds on to other background sounds. Sometimes I wonder why no one is there to stop them. Their parents obviously don’t. So why don’t the workers? Ah... because the employees are also a part of it.

They cause about half the ruckus going inside, which I don’t understand, because librarians are supposed to be the ones who tell others to keep their voices down because it’s a “quiet area”. Nah. They talk with their full voices, laugh like they never laughed before, and continue to stay ignorant to the people around them, actually trying to work and get things done.

Environment is very neat and clean. Very kids friendly. PQ library is my daughter's favorite "RED" library. We brought her to this branch when she was only a few months old. And now she has read thousands of books from it already. Her reading skill has been benefited from library collection a lot. Plus they also have all kinds of events suitable for different age groups, including variety of craft programs. And my favorite program is Garden exchange which happens twice a month. Staff there are very nice and helpful. Our art studio also had an art exhibition at PQ library. Kids were so happy to see their own artworks displayed in the library.
