24 Hour Fitness is a scam, and their response to the Covid-19 Pandemic shows their true colors as a company. I had paid over $1000 for a personal trainer. The contract stated that it was for 20 sessions. Due to the pandemic, the gym was shut down in March when I had completed only 12 sessions. Even during the time the gym was closed, I was charged for monthly membership. When the gyms were reopened in June, I had cancelled my membership because it would have been highly irresponsible to continue attending. Even after my membership was cancelled, they continued to charge me monthly, AND I was charged an ADDITIONAL $1500 for personal trainer fees even though I my membership was cancelled, I had never signed for any renewal contract of personal training sessions, and I was never even able to complete my first set of sessions. I had to file a dispute with my credit card company to get reimbursed for the months I didn't attend while the gym was closed and for the extra $1500 I was charged. However, I still never got reimbursed for the 8 personal training sessions that were never given to me. I had texted my personal trainer to ask about the sessions and never heard back from him. At the time I was able to log onto the 24 hour fitness website, which showed that I had completed 12/20 sessions. I then called the facility, and they stated that it was marked that I had completed all 20 sessions. I asked if they could provide a log as proof of my attendance, and I was told that they don't keep a log of their employees' work hours and thus wouldn't be able to confirm for me. That made no sense to me, because I don't understand how their employees are paid if their hours aren't logged. Each time I came for a session my trainer also had a calendar on the computer he had to log onto. The calendar had a schedule of which clients he had for the day, and he had to mark whether the client showed up or not. I later logged onto 24 hour fitness to try and grab documentation that I had only completed 12 sessions as evidence for my credit card dispute, and my personal training attendance log was no longer...
Read moreI walked in with a 3 day pass I got online. Followed directions and went to the counter. I didn’t see anyone, then once I approached the desk (everyone else were members so just scanned their pass, so I was the only person that needed help).
From under the desk an employee (younger male) popped up and just stood there. I had to explain I had a pass and he asked if I signed a liability waiver. I couldn’t recall so I stayed that I better fill one out again now. He handed me a clipboard with no further communication. I signed then stated that I wanted to check out the sauna only. The phone rang and he looked at me then the phone then said “it’s by the pool,” answered the phone. Since I had never been there I would have appreciated a little more guidance like walking me to where the area was or even just taking a little more care to give more accurate/thorough directions to the sauna.
Generally, I’m used to having a friendlier interaction with front desk staff (I used to go to Chuze). My first impression was negative and did not make for a great gym experience after. Is staff not trained in customer service?
This location is old - I noticed right away how the layout was odd and while it’s a big facility, I was only in the pool/sauna area. I genuinely would have felt more comfortable having a tour or even offered to ask questions about the layout of the gym to help me navigate if I wanted to use more equipment my next visit…
Lastly, the sauna itself was dirty. Floor was gross, and it’s way in the back past the whole pool area. I chatted with a man inside the sauna and he stated that only recently had the sauna been cranked up to a higher temp, that for a while it was barely noticeable and took a long time to heat up. He suggested that I try the newer gym off the 15 freeway a bit up the road.
This in addition to the dirty floor in the sauna were not great experiences at this location. I won’t be joining 24 hour fitness and after going to the sauna I actually became ill with a cold…
Don’t recommend this gym and if you do go, maybe try the location off the 15 freeway in...
