Located across of the San Diego Zoo, short 10 min walk from edge of Balboa Park if starting from the water fountain near Fleet Science Center Museum. Beautiful rose garden, maybe 1000 healthy bushes just starting to bloom in early April. Can see the yellow wildflowers in the distance from the rose garden. It was a beautiful warm day in early April with approximately only 10% or less of the roses were in bloom. Many new buds can be seen, some roses were very fragrant and many were not fragrant as well. I enjoyed walking around the well kept garden. Many people were out exploring the garden despite the roses haven't really fully flowered. Read moreThe roses are not out yet, but the area is open. Covid-19 regulations are posted. The cactus 🌵 are always out. Trails for Cactus section are not too steep and can be walked by most people. There are no stores here or restrooms. Right across the street(Park Blvd.) Balboa Park has museums and The Science Building and parking 🅿️. There is parking along Park Blvd. currently on both sides. Parking is 🆓 free. No meters. A beautiful water fountain is found at the Entrance. San Diego Zoo is nearby too. Parking Okay due to Covid-19 regulations. Usually, parking is difficult at the Zoo. Read moreLovely little area to take a stroll. When the roses are in bloom you can bring lunch or coffee to chat with a good friend. Not something I would necessarily recommend making a special trip and battling for with parking for. It’s nice place to stop by if you are already in the area. We make a point to stop by when we are visiting the park.
