Ski Beach Park is an island park... Vacation Island or Vacation Isle). This gorgeous island park is in the middle of beautiful Mission Bay, San Diego, CA.
This area has so much to offer. Plenty of green grass and sandy beaches with fire rings; great for bayside picnics, and liesure time. Great views all around! Plenty of free parking all over the place so you can usually find parking close to where you are spending your time. Paradise Point Resort is just across Ingraham St to the West. The resort has two very good bayside restaurants (Barefoot Bar Grill and Tidal), parks, a boat pond and views in every direction.
Ski Beach Park; the green lawn is super, white sandy beaches, gorgeous trees make for a great moments in a safe space (very peaceful area). The view across the bay includes Sea World, the distant skyline of San Diego, Fiesta Island, Mission Hills, the Mission Bay Hilton and Mission Bay Park and of course a lot of fun water activities going on in the bay (skiing, canoes, windsurfing). The area offers so much more; great space to enjoy your time here).
To the north crossing Fisherman's Cove using Ingraham St bridge is Crown Point, Crown Point Park; all of this wonderful area is very close to Pacific Beach which has lively Garnet Ave; loads of shopping, bars, restaurants and access to the Pacific Ocean (just one mile to the West). Ingraham St goes through Vacation Island and Crown Point (Crown Point has several very good restaurant/bars, coffee shops, a small market, a very popular bar, and a Liquor store.. and other Crown Point businesses).
I recommend if you can to take your bicycles with you to Ski Beach Park; spend some of your time cycling around the island and if you are very adventurous and bounding with energy cross the Ingraham St bridge to north; take the boardwalk below the bridge and go to the West (to the left). About one mile into your ride around the bay you will pass by sandy beaches, very expensive Crown Point beachfront condos and arrive at small Fanuel St Park which includes a great waterfront kiddie play area. Another half mile on your ride you will find the Catamaran Hotel (they have a great restaurant that patio's a wonderful view of the bay to enjoy while you dine). If you continue your bike ride from there, you will find many other points of fun, recreation, and enjoyable Bayside experience. You pass by cute cottages, some condo buildings, stretches of bayside parks, sandy beaches, Santa Clara Recreational Center, a few Marina's and eventually to the Amusement Park in Mission Beach. This is a great location for the explorer within (a great location.. many of the cottages and condos are rented to SD Visitors.
To the south there is Sea World (cross using the Ingraham St south bridge take first left). There is also Dana Marina to the right. Seriously there is so much around this gorgeous area I could go on and on... If you explore on Google Maps you will see that this little Island Park and Ski Beach Park is the center for one of Southern California very best offerings.
So much for you to enjoy at a 5 star level!

Read moreA very scenic area within mission bay that is perfect for gatherings or just relaxing. There is a nice gazebo, kids playground and restrooms close. Parking is plentiful too, which can be a rarity in SD.
The views are truly great with pacific beach, crown point, La Jolla, bay park, Linda vista, downtown and sea world all in sight from the point where the gazebo is.
Truly an underrated San Diego outdoor area...
Read moreSo much litter in the sand it hurts my heart to walk here. Lots of metal bottle tops that come from glass bottles. Broken glass in grass and sand. Glass isn't allowed on beaches for lots of good reasons. Lots of zip ties that are used then cut off and discarded in the grass. Please, people pick up...
