We are staying at Paradise Point for our anniversary weekend. They have a wonderful atmosphere aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but they rely on that way too much.
It’s a resort and spa so the closest food for guests is this and the tidal restaurant. However it seems that they don’t take time to ensure the quality due food at a resort is worthwhile for guests. I mean for the convenience they feed you low quality convenient food. I have had better food at Nugget Market grocery store than here. In fact they would be better off buying their pork for their sandwich from them than wherever they are getting it from.
I got the Cuban sandwich and my husband got the fish tacos breaded. I got a margarita and he got a beer. As an appetizer we ordered the pretzel. The pretzel was good, not enough cheese, my husband liked the fish tacos. My Cuban sandwich and fries were terrible. They didn’t salt the fries. They were bland and really who messes up French fries. The Cuban sandwich was also bland! It’s hard to mess up fries especially the type that have light breading but somehow they did! The cuban sandwich had ham and two types of pork meat shredded and sliced how do they make that bland? They did though. I grew up in Miami so I have high standards I won’t deny but I also recognize I’m in California so I didn’t expect the sandwich to be perfect but to be bland was just inconceivable to me. The margarita was terrible. Tasted so off. It’s a bar, how do you mess up a mixed drink? They did!
Here is the thing as a guest here this is the food options and for the price the food should be good. It’s San Diego there are a lot of great places to eat, why wouldn’t everything on the menu be to standard of a resort?
Service: it was slow. It took a long time to get a waiter to take our order. Then the food came pretty quickly and it felt like they were in a rush to get us out. Getting salt took time since the waiter was rushing around.
Bar: This is the place to drink I guess and I am sure once someone is drunk the food is much better. The place was popping with inebriated people have fun on a Friday night. Which is great for them. Not knocking it at all. Just the food is terrible and I wasn’t there to party. I could see it being a really fun bar to hang out at with friends because it is beautiful. I don’t think we will ever come here again for food or the hotel for our...

Barefoot Bar and Grill is gorgeous! It is something that you actually write home about (because of the beautiful setting). Palm trees, flowers, cranes and more; the grounds are surrounded by water where diners sit at the base of a dock Marina (boat rentals) on Mission Bay; you get all of that here and of course, peace, a slice of tranquility... thank you.
I dined on the spacious waterfront patio; choosing this restaurant for breakfast just to experience the grand views, the feelings of sitting on the edge of paradise in the early morning (7am) and still be in San Diego. No long jet flight, just hop on my bike and here I am after a short couple of miles from Pacific Beach. I invited a friend to join me of course.
Yes, this restaurant is in Paradise Point which is a beautiful island-like resort in San Diego (near Sea World). The resort is very well maintained, almost perfect in every aspect.
Surprise, surprise! The resort and this restaurant, both are somewhat a secret to many, even those living in San Diego for many long years may not know that it is there; may account for my being surprised that it wasn't busier than it was.
The breakfast I had was not up to my rave about the restaurant itself; I ordered oatmeal and that may not be in their top priority for getting it right (I would rather they charge more and then, perhaps it wouldn't have been a slightly bland meal, a distraction to me). My friend was very happy with his breakfast and especially the setting. We both agreed that it would be a great place to invite friends and people we do business with.
I think you will love Barefoot Bar and Grill! Very friendly well mannered staff!

Read moreOrdered from this restaurant on 4/11/18 at 845pm, for room service at the resort. They told us it would be 45 minutes. The food didn't show up until almost 1030pm, and that was after us calling twice to figure out what was going on, and them telling us it was on way. We called the front desk and complained, and they took half of our bill off ( it was 260$ before discount). Once the food arrived, it got much more frustrating. We ordered food for 7 people and they brought 1 fork. We called them back and said we had 7 people and needed more forks, they brought one more. We had to call a 3rd tine for 5 more forks. At this point, we realized that a lot more food came than what we ordered so we checked the receipt and there were several items that got duplicated. We called the restaurant again and requested that the items get taken off our bill. They wanted to come back to our room to take the food back, which was very strange, but they eventually just decided to take it off the bill and leave it alone. Despite all this frustration, the food was actually good and we enjoyed it.
The only reason for 3 stars instead of 1 is because of the compensation that was given and the food was actually decent. This place is, in my opinion, way overpriced. There are several conferences going on at this resort right now and I would expect that the restaurant would accommodate for that by having extra staff, but it doesn't appear so.
Because the food was good, and the manager was reasonable, I would give this place a second chance and an opportunity for a higher review next...
