In 2018, my husband brought our cat here for shortness of breath and a wellness checkup. Our cat was 13 years old at the time. The vet said that our Lilroy was healthy and even recommended a teeth cleaning. Finally gave some vitamin supplements for him and sent us on our way. Less than 2 weeks later Lilroy was experiencing shortness of breath, and wheezing, my husband took him to the VCA where he was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. Needless to say he was treated and we was told not to except him to last longer. We brought him home made him as comfortable as we could. Gave him his meds everyday. 1 week later Lilroy’s hind legs gave away, he stared crying my husband immediately attempted to take him back to the emergency room Lilroy died on the way to the hospital. It broke my husbands heart to take him In deceased so that they could make the necessary arrangements for cremation. My review is this vet didn’t even detect Lilroys irregular heart beat. The on call vet couldn’t believe that he was just seen by a vet. We don’t blame the Dr, Lilroy wasn’t going to live much longe, but we were left with a false sense of security. Just be careful when you take your babies in, if your not sure of the outcome of a visit please follow your instincts and get a second opinion. We have adopted a new cat now, but he will never take the...
Read moreWe had been struggling with dog allergies for a few years now and SSD Vet Hospital has helped immensely. I was skeptical about trying a new vet at first but even at 6 months later the progress was clear. Now, 1 year later my dog is healthier and happier than ever.
In 2021, my then 6-year-old lab mix started excessively licking her paws to the point of hair loss, bleeding, and skin infections. I was spending so much money on apoquel, antibiotics, tests, check ups, and other stuff that was messing with her stomach. I could not leave her alone or she'd start licking on the couch or bed leaving lick spots everywhere. We thought it was environmental allergy as it all started as soon as we moved to new apartments with lots of greenery. Other vets didn't care too much about the source and wanted to mask the symptoms.
We even tried apoquel and citopoint injections together to reduce itchiness but nothing worked until we went to South SD Vet Hospital and considered a homeopathic approach. They're all so nice and always answer my questions. They have saved me thousands of dollars in unecessary medication and can clearly tell my dog is much happier and excited for the meals I make her.
Sometimes it's hard to get...
Read moreNo one is ever in this office. I wondered why they never have clients coming in. I never have a wait. But one day I took my dog in for an exam, the room I was waiting in was right next to their intake room, and I heard one of the girls yelling, at the top of her lungs, screaming at my dog to shut the F up. My dog is extremely sweet, but is scared in the office and cries a little bit. I couldn’t even believe it! How can a vet allow their staff to talk to the animals that way? And then, when I got called in to look at a spot on my dogs stomach. The reason why I brought her in. The old vet thought the cancerous lesion was one of her nipples. I actually had to point out to the doctor to tell her where to look. She didn’t even know the difference between my dogs nipple and skin cancer. I’ll never go back in...
