Nice decor, steak looked decent, but poor customer service. Found this place on google maps looking for a place with porterhouses after calling the Fatted Calf who don’t carry that bone-in.
I really had a good impression waiting outside to order, enjoying the well thought out Covid precautions and the nice decor on the outside. I was excited to see porterhouse on special.
Unfortunately the guy working behind the counter was not very welcoming or helpful and he immediately gave me a bit of a pretentious hipster vibe. I kind of expect this anywhere I go anyways so I wasn’t totally caught off guard but still in COVID19 times people seem to be very thankful for business and helpful.
On top of the general demeanor and vibe of the staff I had to keep repeating myself for him to hear me. I get it, we’re all wearing masks, but he didn’t make much effort to even listen. I was speaking pretty loud, so If you have a soft voice and have to go here be forewarned.
Sadly the only porterhouses left had almost no tenderloin on them which was why they were on special—fair enough. My beef isn’t with the beef, and I still bought one to try it out. The piece of meat was pretty thick and I asked if he could cut it thickness-wise. Surprisingly, he couldn’t...they don’t have a bandsaw. I guess I expected that since even Safeway does. I asked for spice rub but they didn’t have any left, and I also said I’m a first time customer and asked if he had any suggestions but there just wasn’t any life or effort or salesmanship really besides rattling off some other cuts of meat. I don’t think he really wanted to be there and my attempts to build any rapport fell flat.
Cool looking spot for Instagram but not really a winner when it comes to customer service. I walked away disappointed. I’d say I’ll judge on the meat but they’re selling five dot beef just like fatted calf so I don’t see how there would be any difference. I’m going to pick customer service at the...
Read moreDisappointed. Got a good tip from a local about this butcher. I wanted hand made sausages. I got the Bourbon Sage sausages. 4 of them was $15. I also got a pepperoni stick (it was really good, this is the reason for two stars instead of 1)
The service was overwhelmingly UNFRIENDLY. It was like I was bothering them. Both the gal and the guy either wanted to leave or wanted me to leave.
I got home and cooked the Bourbon Sage sausages within hours or buying them. I think they had gone bad. They smelled strange before cooking (like they were off a little) but the cooked smell was worse. There was something very wrong with that batch.
Unfortunately this place is not for me. Being that they were unfriendly AND I got a bad batch. This is a hard pass for a return...
Read moreWhile we're of course happy to see that Avedano's offers a good amount of pastured meats alongside their more conventional quality cuts, the service here for us has been disappointing on multiple occasions. They have a decent miniature grocery selection with some organic produce essentials, Inna Jam, finishing salts, etc., as well as an array of other meat products (pâté, broths, and such) which they make in-house.
Cool, but
Unfortunately, none of the goodness here is quite enough to make up for the poor service, and that in combination with average pricing doesn't exactly...
