This smallish plaza is about 15 minutes walking from my home. Note that I am mobility challenged, I have lived with Parkinson's disease for over a decade. The PÄșaza makes the neighborhood (Diamond Heights) walwkability index in the high 80's. The Plaza has the basic but close to full compliment of places that one might need to visit to do chores. It has a Bank of America branch with a drive by teller machine, a Safeway with a small Starbuck's coffee shop inside, a Walgreens drugstore, a U.S.Post Office, a packaging shop which serves as UPS FEDEX dropoff and outlet. The business comes complete with a notary. How convenient is that!? The PÄșaza also has 2 fine Asian restaurants, a disum mecca for surrounding communities and turns into a not-bad Cantonese restaurant capable of hosting a 10 to 15 table banquet wedding, birthday or what-have-you party. Also note that the restaurant has a street level vending outlet selling take away food, such as dim sum items and other popular dishes such as sweet and sour pork. A second Asian restaurant is a small Korean restaurant the Heavenly Cafe. I and my family have been frequent guests, mostly at lunch. The current incarnation of Heavenly is about one year old. It's latest incarnation presents changes itself from a 5 table almost greasy-spoon cafeteria into a fairly good looking restaurant. In the new menu the most notable items are the stone pot dishes including my favorite lunch dish, bimbimbat in a stone pot...delicious! There are a couple of other stores worth mentioning a haircut shop and a soft drink, icecream and sundries store that's hardly worth mentioning.
The reason for not awarding the plaza the full 5 stars is that it lacks charm. A nice bakery or a French bistro with tables on the sidewalk, a gourmet food, fish monger or butcher...perhaps a specialty wine and...
Read moreI love MY plaza. The Safeway is too small though. Always out of organic zucchini! Friendly staff though. I love the brand new Korean restaurant Heavenly Cafe. Their menu is spectacular! The food is amazingly good. They serve korean & American food there. Next to the hair salon great clips, which I also like. Post office staff are friendly. This plaza needs a pizza parlor & a Mexican restaurant! I like how they have a security guard, but it is a very safe plaza. The Chinese restaurant fills up the parking lot though, so sometimes I CANNOT even park or shop there! Don't even try during weekend meal times! No parking to be found. Please add a Tonymoly store, an Aritaum store, & a...
Read moreSafeway is small and could use a makeover. Parking layout leaves most spots far from front doors. Unless u live very close many routes take u on some of steepest and roughest roads in the city. Staff however is fairly friendly and helpful and compared to market and Webster Safeways its def a gem. Not a constant theft alarm or police presence is also a huge plus given the times were currently experiencing in sf. I prefer it to the tiny mission safeway as well so although it has its cons at least I dont feel as afraid to leave my car in the lot or have people asking me for change at the doorway on a day...
