Showplace Mattress & Furniture — Attraction in San Marcos

We purchased a Puffy mattress and adjustable frame from this store because we wanted to support a local small business. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a mistake.

Had we purchased directly from Puffy, we would have received 0% interest financing, a 101-night trial, and a 100% money-back guarantee if the mattress did not work for us. We chose this store instead, paid interest on the purchase, and expected that we would still be covered under the manufacturer’s warranty and return policy.

When we realized the mattress was not right for us, we contacted the store. The owner, Hugo, flatly refused to allow a return or refund, saying he would only offer an exchange for a different mattress. He claimed that he explained this policy when we purchased, but neither of us recall hearing anything about it, nor did we see any written notice, signage, or documentation explaining that purchases at this store waive the manufacturer’s return and refund policy.

This is misleading and deceptive. Most customers would reasonably expect that a product purchased at an authorized retailer would carry the same warranty and return benefits as when purchased directly from the manufacturer. Instead, we were left stuck with a product we do not want, paying interest on it, and unable to take advantage of the generous trial period that Puffy advertises everywhere.

We were trying to help a local business, but in the end, we feel taken advantage of. There are plenty of other ways to support local without giving up your right to a refund if the product does not work for you.

Our advice: if you want to buy a mattress, purchase directly from the manufacturer so you can get the full benefits, Ours was a 101-night trial, 100% money-back guarantee, and 0% financing. Do not expect this store to honor those benefits because he won’t. He can "honor" the sales but not the guarantee or warranty that they do. He’ll also post pictures of your bedroom...

We recently purchased a king size WinkBeds Double Box Top from Showplace Mattress and Furniture. We also bought an adjustable base too. My wife and I had never purchased a true Luxury quality mattress before. Our old bed was worn out, so we finally decided to treat ourselves.

The owner, Hugo, and his manager, Joseph, both took a lot of time to answer all of our questions and explained the differences in the several mattresses we liked at his store. They have a lot of really nice mattresses from which to choose, and in all price ranges, not only in the Luxury category. And, we did not feel rushed or pressured at all. We ultimately liked the WinkBed the most and pulled the trigger. Hugo & Joseph went above and beyond to take care of us. They even gave us a white glove delivery which was the icing on the cake! Prior to visiting this store we went to a large national mattress chain store and did not have the same personalized experience.

We have been sleeping on this mattress for about a month now, and we absolutely LOVE it - and we sleep like babies! We will never sleep on an inexpensive mattress again as this was money very well spent.

My wife and I drove up from Northwest San Antonio to Showplace Mattress & Furniture after discovering through the Helix website that they were the only store with the mattress we wanted to see in person. We expected the usual experience of trying out a mattress and then dealing with the typical pushy furniture salespeople. We couldn't have been more wrong.

From the moment we walked in, the staff was amazing. They provided exceptional service, were incredibly genuine, and—most importantly—weren’t pushy at all. What really stood out was their knowledge and passion for mattresses. These guys are true mattress nerds, and we ended up learning so much during our visit!
