Rileystreet Art Supply — Attraction in San Rafael

I would've liked to give this spacious store located downtown San Rafael at least 4 stars but the faculty is vague.

I see an ever changing staff which prevents me from forming any kind of bond or even someone to count on to know something about my art projects. I have lived in Marin for over two decades and I tend to have many long term friends in every one of the 13 villages.

But this place is lacking of the warmth which comes when you walk into say 'Dharma Trading' and feel right at home.

So, when I bought an acrylic pen to paint a sign, I was told I could either return it or exchange it if it didn't work but when I took it back a week later, a woman named Michaela said that they can not return products which have been opened. I didn't mind that so much except that the other staff members had told me it would be okay.

This type of contradictory misinformation being given out from numerous staff members over other store policies as well ( discounts etc,.) have led me to wonder what types of ethics the owner of the store has.

I will stick to Dharma Trading Company for as many of my arts and crafts supply needs as possible so I can...

The vibe there is so chill the people that work there are all of One mind and that's the love of art. And it is contagious, I wanted to get my paint brush and pad out right then and there, and I don't even paint. My son and I went in there for spray paints. The variety of colors they had in their collection were breathtaking. They we're very accommodating in opening the locked lockers to show us the paint. This is a small business and I love giving them my money because I know it's going to a very good and earth lovin' conscientious company. I LOVE this art store, however one of the workers forced me to put on their hand sanitizer, which caused me an allergic reaction..I told her I am allergic to chemicals and I use my own natural hand sanitizers..yet she attacked me verbally and almost threw me out of the store, so I tried the offered hand sanitizer to be able to go in ! (and unfortunately had an allergic reaction)..I have been a good customer for years and this was so unprofessional and overly emotional scene, which didn't have to happen..once again I LOVE this art store, the staff has always been amazing except this one stressful...
