My daughter is 13 and has been playing softball for just under two years (one year competitive). She really loved the camp. We did the day camp, as she went with three friends and we were told they didn't have rooms for three. We found out later that they did and we were a little disappointed to find out they did in fact have rooms where three could stay together, but not a huge deal.
When I asked my daughter if she learned anything she said "no, but I had a lot of fun". I was a bit disappointed and a little unhappy about spending over $500 for "a lot of fun". But then, I started asking her questions about her days and the activities and I realized pretty quickly, that she actually had learned A LOT, she just didn't realize it because the learning was FUN! She didn't connect the games and activities they were doing with learning because they were done in such a fun way . At that point I knew my $500+ was a good investment.
As a day camper Family, I often felt out of the loop. All the info on the web site was specific to the overnight campers and not the day campers. That is the reason for 4 stars and not 5. I wish they had more knowledgeable people answer questions on the man phone line (see first paragraph) and better information for day campers. Otherwise I HIGHLY...
Read moreNike camp was an awesome and rewarding experience for my daughter. She enjoyed every minute of camp. Sarah the Director at Scrap Yards did an excellent job of hiring knowledgeable coaches to work with the girls. Tev, Haley and Hannah kept the girls engaged in drills. They shared there knowledge of the game and provided tons of insight on what to do in different defensive scenarios. With the Texas heat they allowed the girls to take multiple water breaks and break for water without having to ask. I thought that was great! A warm lunch was provided daily to the campers. The Scrap Yard facility is a 5 Star facility in every way. It’s very clean and everything was right there for the girls. Indoor batting cages and pitching machines allowed the girls to work on there hitting. They also had stations within the cages to allow the girls who pitched to work with the girls who played catcher. Overall, I rate the Nike camp a 5 out of 5. It was extremely organized and well planned. The coaches were superb. My daughter can’t wait to attend next years camp. We wish Tev, Haley and Hannah much success on there upcoming...
Read moreMy daughter loved this camp and is already looking forward to returning next year! The girls were worked really hard each day on old and new skills and they get to learn from a great mix women who are in the game now or were in the game. My daughter's knowledge of softball grew so much in those few days, because the girls are taken seriously by the coaches and they are so happy to impart THEIR knowledge. Even with all the hard work and drills, there was so much fun to be had. It was most definitely...
