We had fun just because of the enjoyment of the rides generally. However, there was a lot of cons. -First issue was we went this past weekend (May 18-19) and apparently Saturday was a popular field trip day. There were many and I mean many groups that were such as band kids and "junior trips" and such. Which made for the park to be very crowded. There needs to be a capacity limit to make it more enjoyable for guests. We went on 4 coasters in 8 hours. Luckily we bought the season passes, but had we only been there 1 day I would have been very upset to get on only 4 rides the whole day especially since ticket prices are so high. Fast passes are not affordable for families especially after having to pay for admission on top of it and the expensive prices of food.We had 5 people in our group. I think the website and the front gates should notify the public when there is a mass amount of large groups and schools/school activities attending. We waited 2.5 hours for the Raptor. -Next issue was for many of the big coasters you have to buy a locker for each ride if you brought anything like a draw string back pack. It was like $3 each locker. When you do that 5 or so times...that's $15 on just lockers. It's also very time consuming to have to walk over and pay at the kiosk. Some kiosks are broke. When the park is so crowded those few extra minutes matter because many people are getting in line while you are trying to get a locker and can add a extra 20 to 30 mins to your wait time on the ride. A few select rides have bins you can put things in at the top where the ride is. I don't understand why ALL the rides do not have this option. Just seems like another way for the park to get your money. I recommend trying to take as less as possible and trying to fit anything you may need into a fanny pack. As fanny packs are allowed on most rides. On one ride I tried to put my phone in a bin and I was told I had to keep my phone in my pocket instead which I thought was odd. I thought they usually do not want phones on your person at all. -They of course price gouge all the food and drinks. Especially since they don't allow any outside food or drinks. Therefore, you almost have no choice, but to buy their crazy priced things. It was $100 to feed 5 of us chicken strips and fries and that was with 3 kids sharing 2 chicken strips meals and they each got 2 strips because they are big. We ended up having a lot of chicken that got thrown away because everyone was full. I would recommend to share a meal between every 2 ppl. Drinks were over $5 a piece. If you have the time to go out to your car and eat I would bring a cooler and do that instead and try to eat something large before arriving so you are full the better part of the day.Not many food options corn dogs, pizza and chicken strips or the diner. All food places were a 45min wait or more -I am not sure this would work, but I think as soon as you get there go to the back of the park and work your way to the front. That way you're in the back while everyone is up front and then you're heading to the front while everyone is doing rides in the back. -Saturday about 45 mins until close they shut down the tall swings and "Gatekeeper" for maintenance and said it wouldn't open back up the rest of the day. That was disappointing as there wasn't much else in that area we wanted to ride and we didn't have enough time to walk over to another part of the park to ride something else. Sunday we had about an hour before we had to leave (before close. Around 5pm). We got in line for Steel Vengeance which said a 75 min wait. We stood there about 10 mins before a voice came over the speaker that they were having "maintenance issues" and the wait time was going to take longer. We ended up wasting our last hour on the park just waiting in line for the train and walking back to the front. -lastly at closing time there needs to be people in the parking lot directing traffic and getting exit lines to move smoothly. We waited an hour at a stand still in the parking lot before we finally made it...
Read moreThis is hands down one of the best thrill parks in the world. It's definitly the best in America! This park has something for everyone. However if you are looking for thrill rides. You will have sensory overload. Most of thier roller coasters are current record breaking roller coasters, or they were when they were built. They have upwards of 20 rollercoasters. And when I say rollercoasters, they do things on another level at Cedar Point. Their coasters are huge long and spread out. I'm a roller coaster nut and can't get enough crazy when it comes to coasyers. I've traveled all over the world to ride the top roller coasters and America is no joke when it comes to coasters. Japan is the only other country that comes close in my opinion. There's only 1 other thrill park in America that even comes close to the thrills Cedar Point can deliver and that is Six Flags Great Adventure in Los Angeles. There are a ton of Theme parks in this country and many of them will have one or two great thrill rides. But these two parks are on a other leveI. And of the two Cedar Point is the clear winner. Six Flags LA is a great action pack park filled with record breaking rides, but Cedar Point has all that and sits on beautiful Lake Erie. This massive lake surrounds Cedar Point and just adds tons of beauty. Its kid friendly family friendly. You can kick back and have a laid back day. Or you can go hard and try to ride every ride in the park. But I'll tell you now I highly doubt you will be able to!! There is just way to much to do and see.
They have hotels and camping with log cabins right on the water and a totally separate massive water park as well.
They also redid the entire beach front area to resemble a huge boardwalk. They made the beach more accessible to the park. Giving that area an old school boardwalk feel with boardwalk type rides and games. Plus you can go out to the beach and go swimming if you like. Rent lockers give yourself some beach time on those hot summer days. They also rent jet skis and have multiple other water sports to try out as well . It is mind blowing the things you can try to pack in a day at Cedar Point. Heres a pro tip. You won't be able to do everything in one day. You might have to make a weekend of it. There's just way too much to do. Oh, and every night. They put on a free show with singing and dancing thats always family friendly and usually ends in tons of music dancing and fireworks. I can go on and on about Cedar Point. I have many years of amazing memories at this park. From getting stuck at the top of the first hill on the gemini as a child and crying my eyes out. To the adrenaline packed speed of top thrill 2. some memories will last a lifetime. But dont take my word for it go and check it out for yourself you will be amazed at all the park has to offer. I'm sure you will create memories of your own that will live forever.
One last thing. The grounds are gorgeous and unbelievably manicured. The flowers, trees, plants, water features, walkways, and landscape. The buildings the themeing, Lake Erie, the beach, everywhere you look all of it is beautiful, well thought out, and perfectly executed. You'll be amazed at how clean, organized, and picturesque this park is. The attention to detail all the way down to the bushes, trash cans, and benches is inspiring. If all you wanted to do was look around at all the gardens and beautifully lined walkways and the pristine cleanliness of the landscape in this park, you will be busy just trying to get all that in. It is unbelievable how crystal clean they keep this park. That cannot be an easy task considering the millions and millions of visitors the see every year.
If you are still reading this I both applaud you and feel bad because I can go on about Cedar Point for days. All I can say is stop what you are doing and plan yourself a trip there. You'll be so glad you did. I hope Cedar Point brings you as much happiness, fun and great memories as its brought me over the years. It is absolute best theme park and you are going...
Read moreSo I'll start off my review by saying it has always been a dream to visit this place, especially as a roller coaster enthusiast! I was actually gifted this trip as part of a present from my girlfriend but the trip had to be postponed a couple of times due to weather.
This past weekend we were finally able to make the Trek 6 Plus hours to the park. We came down on Friday and we had a hotel for the weekend. We spent Saturday at the park from open to close and really try to make everything worth our while. My girlfriend is not big on rides, so I asked my best friend to join me as a semi roller coaster rider. I was still excited to go to the park even though I had heard the news about Top Thrill Dragster being down for the rest of the year. This plus the new app being glitchy even after troubleshooting has caused me to deduct one star as I was really looking forward to riding all of the epic coasters.
We were supposed to receive rain but luckily it only sprinkled, so we were able to ride most things with the exception of Maverick, as it was down at one point for a good portion of the day. When it finally did become available it had a 75 minute wait, so we opted to ride steel vengeance one more time in lieu of Maverick.
The location is right on the edge of Lake Erie as you can look over and see the water and boats. This makes for a beautiful sunset when it happens cascading off the water.
This was also Labor Day weekend so the lines were decently long but not as long as we initially expected, this can factor in huge if you do not have a fast lane or fast lane plus pass. This park also utilizes Dynamic pricing for both its tickets and it's add-ons and at the time we couldn't justify paying $180 more per ticket but the option is available and it really does help cut down much of the wait time.
Some rides we waited 15 to 20 minutes when things first opened as we made our way to the back of the park per a suggestion by a Cedar Point Facebook group I'm a part of, this was spot-on and helped us be able to ride all of the popular coasters before it got packed later in the day. Using a bit of smarts when it came to mapping out how we were going to approach getting on all the rides coupled with the use of the app which was newly updated to check wait times helped us achieve this.
The app however was glitchy at times not refreshing at all and not allowing me to search for things like my Gold season pass. I ended up having to send a screenshot to my best friend's phone and then scanning the screenshot using the new app for it to populate. So my advice on that is make sure you have a screenshot available of your season pass in case you run into any technical issues with the app itself.
The park itself is not the biggest but they are going for quality over quantity as they have 18 of the world's best coasters in one Park and they know what they've got! My favorites were Millennium Force, valraven, and the best was saved for last with steel vengeance coming in at the top of my list. Maverick probably would have made it on this list as well but I didn't get a chance to try it and the wait time was too much without the fast pass.
This was a late anniversary/ birthday / Christmas present trip and I really enjoyed it with the best company. The staff was extremely helpful as soon as we entered I asked Tom if my plan of attack for getting on everything was a smart plan and he agreed. They also have some decent food options as we really enjoyed BackBeat barbecue. The park takes on a different vibe after the sun goes down and you really have to ride at least one coaster in the front seat, however they do have certain policies in place when it gets busy where they will manually assign you to a seat so you are not guaranteed a front row seat, however if you ask nicely they may be able to accommodate you but it's not guaranteed.
One of the things that really impressed me was the efficiency with the dispatch times, as different parts have different dispatch times but these guys were on...
