i had an awful experience and will not be returning. My mother and I decided to share a meal since we were at cedar point and didn’t want to carry around to go boxes. They made us pay $15 to share our food (which is absolutely insane) and that included extra rice and extra soup. We expressed that we didn’t want anything extra which is why we were sharing in the first place, to not have food left over, and they did not care. We had to pay $15 anyway and ended up having food left over (which we knew we would) and had to throw it away. Not only that, if someone didn’t order hibachi they took their plates, to try and prevent people from sharing without paying which I think is absolutely extreme. Our waiter took one of the orders wrong and wrote down shrimp instead of steak, and instead of just bringing out a piece of steak, he came to the grill and removed 3 pieces of cooked shrimp and took them to the back. They are too expensive to be penny pinching, that was extremely unnecessary and he could’ve just given the shrimp to the other person who actually ordered shrimp, because what are you going to do with those 3 pieces? We had a party of 10 and he scrambled 3 eggs for everyone’s rice but then told us that a part of 2 would get 1 egg. Which means it should be 1 egg per 2 people. MEANING we should have had at least 5 eggs. So they proceeded to charge us a dollar per extra egg we asked for. Then once we were paying our bill, my aunts bill came up to $90, so that’s now much her card was ran for initially, the woman who was running our cards forgot to charge my aunt for a $20 item. and instead of just charging her card for the $20 she proceed to charge her card for $110 and voiding the $80. Why wouldn’t she come communicate that before taking matters into her own hands. How did she know there was enough money on the card for that or if that money wasn’t being used for something else seeing as we were at an amusement park. Pending charges take a couple days to fall off so it’s not like my aunt got her money back immediately. I could barely enjoy my food (the rice was bland as well) and if I was there alone I would have paid for my drink and left. It was an extremely annoying and unprofessional experience. I will not be setting foot in that...
Read more1/5 Stars - Disappointing Experience at Tomo
I visited Tomo last night, expecting an exciting hibachi and sushi experience, but unfortunately, it fell flat in every aspect.
False Advertising: Tomo is listed as a sushi restaurant, but to our surprise, they don't even serve sushi! This was a major letdown, as we were looking forward to trying their sushi offerings.
Poor Customer Service:
· As soon as we sat down (literally 4 minutes), our waitress rushed over, repeatedly asking us to order immediately. No menu explanation, no welcome, just a sense of urgency. · When I asked for a minute to review the menu, she seemed annoyed and walked away, and came back 2 minutes later. · Our server seemed completely disinterested, and more eager to get us out of the restaurant. Also, I came with my family and I was going to share a dish since it was 2 proteins (chicken and salmon ) I thought the potions were going to be big. It was an upcharge just to share the waitress snatched my plate and I ended up just having to eat off of another plate from the appetizers.
Bland Food:
· The hibachi chicken was overcooked and dry, lacking any discernible flavor. · The "signature" sauce tasted like plain soy sauce. · The stir-fried vegetables were soggy and uninspired. · The portions were small, especially considering the prices.
Underwhelming Hibachi Experience:
· The chef's performance was lackluster, with minimal interaction and no impressive tricks. · The grill area was dirty, and the utensils looked worn out.
Won't Be Returning:
For a restaurant listed as sushi and hibachi, Tomo fails to deliver on the fundamentals: quality food, engaging service, and an entertaining experience. With numerous better options in the area, I wouldn't recommend Tomo to anyone.
Rating Breakdown:
· Food Quality: 1/5 · Customer Service: 1/5 · Atmosphere: 2.5/5 · Value: 1/5
Recommendation: Improve customer service training, revamp the menu, focus on cleanliness, and update your online listings to reflect your actual offerings.
Tips for Potential Customers:
· Call ahead to confirm sushi availability (or lack thereof). · Don't expect a welcoming atmosphere. · Take your time reviewing the menu, despite the...
Read moreTLDR: Solid hibachi experience with the convenience of being located in hotel Breakers. Come for a break from eating amusement park food.
Vibe: 4/5. Located in the main lobby of hotel Breakers, Tomo is the perfect choice for hotel guests looking for a fun dinner outside of the park. The restaurant has around 6-8 hibachi tables that can hold large parties. Our group of 12 guys was able to comfortably sit and enjoy our dinner. The restaurant is one large dining room, with all tables adjacent to each other so it can get a bit noisy, but that's part of the fun!
Service: 4/5. The service at Tomo was great from start to finish. From getting seated promptly at our 5pm reservation to the hibachi chef giving us a great show, we were happy with the entire experience. One thing to note is that the restaurant seems to be a little understaffed, as they were turning away walk up diners, even though the restaurant was only 30% occupied. I made our reservations 2 weeks in advance, so I highly recommend doing the same.
Food: 5/5. Our entire table thoroughly enjoyed our meals. My group of 12 ordered a mix of chicken, steak, filet, shrimp and scallop dinners with each tasting great. Our steaks were all perfectly cooked to medium rare (as requested) as well as the seafood having a nice sear. The hibachi show was well executed, including all of the crowd favorites (onion train, oil fireball, sake mouth squirt etc). This was the perfect dinner to break up the monotony of eating theme park food all day in Cedar Point without leaving the peninsula! Overall,...
