Some businesses have kind employees who love serving customers. Others have bad mid-level supervisors who wreck things. What should be a peaceful community swim center funded by tax payers is disrupted by music and unpleasant staff. Knowing my husband and I don't like to swim or play tennis where music is being played, last week my husband and I drove in person and asked the front desk to speak with the head of the aquatic center about this BEFORE coming here to swim. We were told that the head of the aquatic center said "no problem – just ask the lifeguard to turn the music off if it is on.” Most lap swim places understand that swimmers come for peace and focus, not music. Today, after we drove an hour and arrived, radio station music with ads was blaring from four speakers at every corner of the 20 lane beautiful outdoor pool with one lifeguard. The first song was "you don't have to take your clothes off to have a good time.” The next was something about a being a freak and freak you off. Per what the aquatic director told us to do, I asked the lifeguard to turn off the music. Expecting no issues, a few minutes later the music was softer but still there. I asked the lifeguard if he would have the music turned off, which he did with his walkie talkie. To my surprise, the music that had just been softened was actually made louder? Confused I asked the lifeguard why it was louder? He said someone would be out to speak with me. There were maybe 7 lap swimmers in a 20 lane pool. Two unfriendly staff women came out. One said that she would NOT turn the music down or off for us. “Music is part of our program…You are not the only person who matters. Other people might like the music. Maybe you should swim somewhere else." Huh? My husband is a swim customer. We went to the trouble to ask how to do this before driving an hour. I should have read 1 star reviews. This negative attitude happens here with staff towards customers. All we wanted to do was have a peaceful swim for an hour without music as promised and go home. After arguing with me for several minutes she said, "I'll turn the music off while you are here this ONE TIME. That's it." She goes inside and all the pool speakers go quiet. You can hear the soothing breeze and sounds of water. Perfect. As people get out of the pool, I ask if they prefer music on or not. All five swimmers asked all said they don't care if the music is on or not. After musical silence for 10-minutes, the music at the pool COMES BACK ON. What? I'm confused. She said she'd turn it off for the hour we were swimming and only did so for 10-minutes then turned it back on? I go to the front desk. They call the same woman. I ask if she turned the music back on after agreeing to leave it off while we were there. She said yes she did turn it back on, broke her promise and she's not going to do anything to help us. She equated us requesting music off was like being told to play heavy metal by a customer. “We aren’t going to cater to customers.” I mentioned that the other swimmers did not care if music was off. She said, "I told you not to talk to other swimmers." This makes no sense. It's a pool where serious swimmers come to lap swim at certain hours. Disappointing. This beautiful pool ought to be filled with happy swimmers. Now my husband doesn't want to return due to these very unpleasant women. Is there an absentee boss? It seems that what he said was the policy didn't matter and these women do that they want with no concern of being fired. I told her my suggestion: no music 9 to 11:30 am then music 11:30 am to 1:30 pm giving patrons a choice. These women had zero desire to be kind or considerate. The same music playing at the pool plays in their lobby. Perhaps it's about staff and not paying swim patrons? How many people who love swimming avoid this place because of this negative treatment? If I saw my employees treat customers like this, I would fire them - they don't belong in customer service in my opinion. 1/28/25: The director called,...
Read moreThis place is great, but could approve on some things. It has a lot of issues waiting to be fixed or has been worse. First of all,no metal of no type on any swimsuits are allowed on the yellow slide. Back then, you could cover the metal with stickers and would be just fine… but now, and it would have been nice to know beforehand, only Rashgaurds are allowed. Not even with a coverup AND bandaids covering the metal parts of my swim suit just fine! THEY SELL THEM FOR $15+ AT THE FRONT DESK, What the heck?! That’s the only type they want you to buy. If you bring one from home, half of the time they won’t allow it. Then, you need to swim a lap across the pool to be able to go onto the diving boards. People cut in line and the lifeguard didn’t care, but when I did he got mad!!! So when another lifeguard was there I told him I was swimming now, and he was paying attention until his girlfriend it looked like started talking to him about helping her put sunscreen on. I told him I had finished it, but he told me to do it again because he didn’t see it… uhm…. And the bathrooms need some cleaning. And I get that yes, it’s a pool, and yes, of course things are gonna be wet and gross, but I overheard a few workers say they haven’t cleaned them in weeks. That’s absolutely disgusting. Santa Clarita Aquatics Center, thank you for hosting some great memories of mine in the past, but you will have to do some MAJOR improvements before...
Read moreMy family really enjoyed this community pool today! I tried to order online but was very confused when “Drop in Swim recreational” kept saying it was unavailable. You have to click on the link that says “water slide” and that works just fine. Anyways we got there 40min early and their was already a line outside to get in, thankfully I was able to purchase our tickets there inside. We waited and went in at 12:30pm. It was very organized and no one went running in or was shoving. You want to get there early to be in line for a shaded table! That’s what I figured after we got in. Everyone was grabbing the shaded tables or a shaded grassy area. It was very clean and the kids will have a blast. Though I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t have their food area up and running. I read online that NO outside food was allowed to be brought in and yet every single person had their own food lol big boxes of chips l, pizzas, salsa and tacos lol So we ordered chipotle to be delivered. So definitely bring snacks and food for yourself! I would definitely come back :) and every hour they do take a break and everyone exists the...
