Santa Monica State Beach is an absolute paradise for families seeking sun, sand, and endless fun. As a parent, this beach destination exceeded all expectations, providing a memorable experience for both me and my kids.
From the moment we arrived, the vibrant energy and picturesque surroundings of Santa Monica State Beach put smiles on our faces. The soft sand and gentle waves invited us to build sandcastles and frolic in the refreshing ocean waters. It was a joy to watch my children's excitement as they explored the beach, collecting seashells and chasing seagulls.
One of the highlights of our visit was the Santa Monica Pier, located adjacent to the beach. This iconic landmark offers a plethora of activities for kids of all ages. We spent hours riding the thrilling Ferris wheel, playing classic arcade games, and indulging in tasty treats from the various snack stands. The pier's lively atmosphere, coupled with breathtaking views of the coastline, created unforgettable moments for the whole family.
Santa Monica State Beach also offers a range of kid-friendly activities beyond the sand and sea. The Annenberg Community Beach House, located on the beachfront, provides a variety of amenities such as a splash pad, playground, and picnic areas. My children had a blast cooling off in the splash pad and making new friends on the playground, while I relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful coastal scenery.
In addition to the beach and pier, the surrounding area boasts numerous shops and restaurants, perfect for family-friendly outings. We explored the lively Third Street Promenade, filled with eclectic shops, street performers, and delicious dining options. It was a great opportunity for us to take a break from the beach and immerse ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere of Santa Monica.
Safety and convenience are paramount for families, and Santa Monica State Beach excels in both aspects. The beach offers ample parking options, clean restroom facilities, and designated lifeguard stations to ensure a worry-free experience for parents.
In conclusion, Santa Monica State Beach is a haven of family fun, offering a perfect blend of sun, sand, and exciting activities for kids. Whether building sandcastles on the beach, enjoying the attractions on the Santa Monica Pier, or exploring the surrounding shops and restaurants, this beach destination provides endless entertainment for the entire family.
I wholeheartedly give Santa Monica State Beach a five-star rating for its pristine coastline, diverse range of activities, and its ability to create lasting memories for children and...
Read moreUmbrellas and blankets and towels and even the hats at the beach are really important under the Californian sun. At the beach there are carts that are providing all these items with a bit of cost but makes life so much easier at the beach.
The umbrellas give a little bit of shade and protection from the wind too so you can enjoy clean picnics.
The blankets are protecting your food, feet and you butt from the heat of the sand and the sandals and hats are amazing to cover your feet and head while walking. So yes, you can get everything you need at the beach from kindhearted people who serve and walk around with carts.
Umbrellas also saves a lot of money in sun lotions because during the summer time the lotions of 30 and 50 are not enough for everybody and needs to be applied many times.
With umbrella you protect yourself and your childen from the direct sunlight and you can enjoy the time at the beach and have an amazing warm place when you get back to your blanket from the beautiful ocean that gives an amazing jacuzzi type of massage to your feet and your legs and butt on the white water.
You don't need to wait that long to get waves coming to you so don't walk too long way from the shore but stay nearby the shore because ocean waves comes in a sequence and in a group.
The first wave of the group is not usually the best for body boarding or surfing but the second and third wave of the group tend to be better. I used to study ocean physics when I was surfing a lot in both Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
Californian Ocean is called North Pacific Ocean in case you want to check the wave and wind reports on surfline or magicweed or galileo etc. websites.
Enjoy your amazing time at the beach and yes, walking on a sand is harder but you will thank it later because it shapes your thighs and butt and lower stomach muscles giving you excercise so you can enjoy that picnic and snacks on the beach!
Thanks to city staff for keeping the beaches clean and thanks to those who put their garbage to the garbage bins which there are plenty of at the beach!
I want to thank all the local businesses and their amazing crew for helping me to test my innovations and do my method acting rehearsals too.
God Bless!

Read moreThe popular stretch of beach just north of the Santa Monica Pier takes up where Santa Monica Beach at the ‘Pier leaves off. The super wide beach has room for weekend crowds, and then some. I’ve been a pedal powered bike rider here ever since I can remember! There’s plenty of bike and scooter rentals and many of those have both conventional and electric power. With enough energy, it’s possible to ride, walk or run the long length of the paved beachfront trail thru Will Rodgers State Beach, up to the Bel Air Bay Club, just north of Temescal Canyon! I’d advise using the public facilities along the way, and not at the private clubs, as with the Johnathan Club and Bel Air Bay Club, which are for members only. I like the smaller parking lots 3, 4, 5 when less crowded. There’s restrooms just steps from the these lots. Trash containers are conveniently located to help minimize litter. As mentioned with the Santa Monica Beach post, the arrival and departure times can make or break the continuity of the visit with the gridlock potential! Caution should be exercised for vehicles making left hand turns into the parking lots from northbound Pacific Coast Highway. Also, because the traffic is fast moving, often with last second lane changes on southbound Pacific Coast Highway past the lots, extreme care is needed when exiting! There may be limited traffic further northbound, dealing with the aftermath of the Palisades fire, north of...
