Destin West Beach and Bay Resort Unit 202 — Attraction in Santa Rosa Island

My family and I rented unit #106 Gulf Side. There was an abundance of sand on the living room furniture as well as in the king sized bed. I realize being at the beach there's going to be sand.. but I was definitely expecting clean sheets on the bed. The queen bed comforter was filthy. There were visible "secretions" on top of the dark comforter that was impossible to miss. I was disappointed in the fact that none of the pools had a handicapped lift. Id spoken to someone at the resort prior to booking and they assured me my daughter would be able to use the pools. Unfortunately she wasn't even able to access the patio from our room since there were 4" bars across the patio doors which she was unable to "roll" over. Also the patio doors wouldn't close completely or lock. This was a concern as we didn't feel safe leaving our condo especially being on the ground floor. This was the worst vacation experience Ive ever planned. The only reason Im leaving 3 stars is that Kayla in the resort office went above and beyond to be kind and professional even tho I was not my best self after realizing my handicapped daughter would be unable to enjoy any of the pools. Kayla remained polite and even sympathetic towards me. I spoke to Jennifer from the HOA who was anything but polite or professional. She was the rudest person Ive ever spoken to that is in a public relations role. Regardless.. This was my first and last time staying at Destin West. I do appreciate Kayla going out of her way to address...

Oct/2017 Love this place!! Hurricane Nate tried to stop us but it didn't work. The hurricane came and went but we stayed. We've been coming here for several years now. Great location to everything. Easy beach access. Excellent parking garage for access to your floor. Elevators are everywhere. I would recommend this place over and over again. 👍👍

Oct/2018 Once again, another GREAT stay. Unfortunately there was one huge downfall this time... Hurricane Michael. It cut our vacation short, but we had 3 full, awesome days of sun and sand. DWR refunded us the rest of our stay since we had to leave. Again, I would recommend this place to everyone. Great staff and great facilities.

May 2019 Back again!!! This time weather predictions show good weather for our week here. Staying in the Villas facing the East. If you want to see a beautiful sunrise, these are the rooms to get. Although you want to be on the 4th, 5th, or 6th floor. This time of year the sun rises over the bay. Awesome! The room we're staying in has a bath with tub and stand up shower. Couch with a fold out bed. Nice queen size bed. Nice little kitchen/living room area. It tell ya, I love this place. Will continue to come here as long as the rooms...

Not for adults! Towed in the middle of the night (between midnight and 9am) because we forgot to place pass in window. Ever forget? Don't, at Destin West, placing the pass in your visor may cost you $393 cash only to get your vehicle back (just in case you take the pass out of your window each day so it doesn't fly out or cause a glare). Big Toe nails on the floor of condo. Pool not heated. Hot tub packed w. unsupervised kiddos when it was open (closed 2 days we were there). Beach was packed, and a person in our group had to go to immediate care due to a nail in their foot from the beach. No ice machines (except for the one in your room refrigerator). How well did that keep up for a 3 room condo on vacation? It didn't? The fire department was even called to put out a fire caused by an exploding freezer during our stay. Constant door knocking w. kiddos "ghost knocking" and running off (seemed to be a mostly 1st floor or corner room complaint from our group, though). One could say these were a bunch of coincidences, but I rarely have such an unpleasant lodging experience. If Organized Chaos is for you, have fun at...
