The Boardwalk, Okaloosa Island — Attraction in Florida

Just another must go to locations on our Destin Fort Walton trips! Everyone has to cruise the shops and find a souvenir (the kids particularly love Kitty Hawks!) there's a lovely view of the beach that's full of people just enjoying the day in the sun and sand! Then of course there's the crab trap, so even if I wanted to avoid the boardwalk I couldn't because it's a beach trip must have!! It always has fun activities for the family, fireworks once a week, free movie night on the weekends and if you enjoy people watching well this is definitely this the place for you! From people dressed to the nines to folks walking off the beach after a day of adventure, from every walk of life, all shapes and sizes and on top of that just about everyone you meet are friendly and happy and it's the atmosphere and ambiance of the entire place! I'll always have such a soft spot in my heart for this wonderful place and recommend you find the time to...

it's a cool area to hang out on the beach and have the peer for watching sunsets and sunrises. there is also live entertainment behind you at Al's and there is a shopping mall with a few stores and you can get kites from Kitty Hawk kites. there's also a taco place to eat that is fair. owls has live entertainment all the time they do fireworks a couple times a week they have kids events inside and on the beach is all open Bay in the back. the beach area is a bit crowded at times but there is always plenty of room to park your things and still enjoy it all. Al's has a fire throwing event on Wednesday nights. we were there for the 4th of July and it was not as crazy as I anticipated on it being. they did not have fireworks there that was my only disappointment. but they did host fireworks at the Harbor Boardwalk and across the bay which we could see from there on the beach. we saw dolphins around the end...

We waited over an hour to be seated(party of 3). We asked for outdoor seating and when they finally sat us, it was indoors. We didn't mention it because we waited so long already. They sat us right next to the kitchen and we didn't get a waiter or anyone to help us for almost 15 minutes!

Yes...we waited that long to order a water, cola and a beer. The food arrived and was overcooked, tasted like it was under a heat lamp. I understand the waitress is just that but this place needs some help.
