So first time in fort walton beach and this place was on the list because wife wanted fresh oysters. When we arrived two young girls on outside seating seemed to not understand the mission. Sent us to the front to be seated and another young woman and young man literally did not welcome us like we bothered them to ask for two seats . Fine whatever sat down ordered apps and drinks. Can't remember the young server at out table was a Rockstar. His service was great and the food was OK to good. What ruined the meal just as we were finishing two of the biggest cockroaches i have ever seen on the wall right next to our table. I'm from Fla by way to Atlanta so ive seen my fair share of roaches but never that large and in a restaurant of all places. 5 college softball players got up and moved to another table on all on their own because the second one was not killed hovering over there wall. The way they reacted expected them to leave. Maybe they were hungry and stayed. Funny in way watch brawny ball players run from the sick roach. First one though was killed by our server with a menu 😆 didn't see what he did with it the menu afterwards. Both roaches seemed sick and dying and couldn't flee thankfully. Not how you want to end a $150 meal. Server discounted the table for the invasion. Got the check had some leftovers to take back to the resort. It never made it it wad tossed in the dumpster. That being i doubt we will ever return to this establishment not even they paid us. At least we have story tell when get back to Atlanta. UPDATE: My father was a chef and owned a restaurant which i worked in during the summer. I appreciate owner and manager addressing our evening. I could definitely tell they addressing any Pest is what you want. Clearly they were dying and sick and couldn't really move. Probably got of area treated to dining area. We were just the lucky ones one to sit next to that wall. We come back later this year and may still return in no way was food not good or excellent in some parts. Think we lost appetite after the little invasion. I know in no world the business wanted that happen. Giving the full benefit of doubt. But greeters front and outside need training, they were not hospitable at all. Smiling doesn't cost much. From what i could see our server and surrounding servers are stars. I saw them hustling and taking care of the smallest details. All the hostesses need real training. So October or November we'll give them a do over. Biggest reason is those freaking fried crab claws. Tiny little...
Read more^^^^^^Due to the quick response and actions of Miguel of The Crab Trap Boardwalk, I am amending my review. When I spoke to him he more than apologized for the issues. He came in on his day off, cooked a replacement order that was delicious and correct! The staff was very friendly and apologetic. They even gave me nice ice cold glass of pink lemonade, twice! My suggestion to tourist, dine in, have some cold drinks, eat lots of good seafood, esp. the crab and shrimp dip. If doing take out, check out the order before leaving! Note: the first pics (1 thru 5) are of the original order, the next set (6 thru 10) is the replacement order.
Crab Trap Boardwalk: Tourist be wary! We were disappointed and unhappy with our to go order. First of all we are locals and have always loved the food. But due to health concerns it is very hard to take my ill Mom of 87 years, out to eat. We ordered the Crab Dip, Red Snapper Dinner (grilled, no seasoning, with veggies, coleslaw), Fried Shrimp Poor Boy (with side of coleslaw), Crab Cake Dinner. When I arrived at the restaurant the food was waiting at the bar. But the bartender could have cared less. There were 3 others at the bar, all had been served. He carried on a long conversation with a patron, totally ignoring me. I asked the hostess to get him to help me. I was informed he was waiting on someone and I just had to wait my turn. Another hostess was paying attention and saw what was happening and she came over and asked him to serve me. He eventually ended his conversation and served me. He was pleasant, and did honor a nice military discount. Well now to the food disaster. Although ordered without spices, the Red Snapper was spicey blackened was cooked nicely. Mom could not eat it. No sides, no tarter or seafood sauce just fish. Crab Dip was soupy and no pita bread. The Shrimp Poor Boy was sad, side slaw missing and again no tarter or seafood sauces. The Crab Cake Dinner was good, the sauces that came with it were very tiny did not look like the menu picture. Could have used the non existent tarter and seafood sauce. An expensive dinner to finish hungry....
Read moreBeach dining with a view with an exquisite seafood menu. The Crab Trap 🦀 is located on the board walk on Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The patio outside seating is perfect for enjoying the beach vibe. ⛱️ The ocean view and sandy beach go as far as the eye can see. The fireworks show was cool to view laid out on a blanket along the beach. It made the fireworks viewing experience stand out from other encounters. The snowcrab legs were so good dipped in the buttery sauce. The flavor wasn't pungent or strong. Just has a delicious, sweet, buttery flakiness. Now, let's not forget that eating crab legs requires developing the art of cracking the shell and pulling the meat out without smashing it into a flakey pile of white mush. This took a few tries, but once u taste the difference in eating the meat whole or smashed, it becomes a challenge to ensure the best way to get that bite of buttery goodness every time... just on a side note... please make sure you are prepared to bit bw stuffed bc eating crab legs is expensive and takes work to get a small bite. Crab legs are not filling. To me, crablegs are just an expensive appetizer to tease you into thinking you have had something filing because of the cost. Though the work, time, and energy it takes to enjoy crab for the little amount of meat isn't so much for the meat as it is the experience. Heres a shout-out to my husband Benjamin for talking me into something new by trying crablegs for the first time. I do believe I could have eaten 4 platters before I would've been full. But you know what? I can stop saying i don't like shellfish bc Crab I am, I do like crab legs here or there. I do like them Crab I...
