I wasn't happy when I won a free three month gym membership because I really do not like to work out, so it took me about four months to even get up the Courage to walk in to the location right by my house. I tried to use it at the Hwy 17 location but the girl there told me I couldn't use it there because it had been issued by Eisenhower and even though I returned to ask them about the policy, she told me I needed to talk to somebody else and proceeded to wait on other customers that came in after me.However when I called Eisenhower planet fitness, Michaela explained to me all about the gym, she told me that I could use it anywhere in the United States, she told me all about their programs and how it was different than anything that I would encounter at any gym. I could tell that Michaela was sick because she was coughing on the phone but still was eager to make my experience a good one. As Dom patiently listened to my reasoning for wanting to cancel, he was interrupted twice by other members one of whom was a bit upset about being charged after canceling. How refreshing it was to see this young man maintain a professional and gentle demeanor with them.
I decided to take a look around while waiting, when Dom got off the phone he calmly explained to his supervisor Richard the situation with the upset customer. To my surprise Richard was equally kind and made sure to greet me. Once Dom was free he took the time to tell me about the hydro massage machine which was a part of my membership because he was actively listening when I mentioned that one the reasons I needed to cancel was back pain and set me up to try it. However today I was left waiting at the front desk for 25 minutes, even with using the radio to call for assistance. 3 customers who also waited walked away. When the employee managed to come he apologized for the wait , said he was the only one on shift, and offered assistance. It is unacceptable to only have one employee on a shift at an establishment where there we’re currently 50+ people present, and with numerous amenities requiring management assistance. Not to mention how on earth with Coronavirus you are expecting one person to frequently clean/disinfect the whole place , and manage customers?? Your employee was wonderful, shame on whoever made the schedule to leave one person to fend for themselves, no doubt leaving them to receive the brunt of the blame for slow...
