One star is too many!!!! I am actually boycotting all Hobby town stores. Recently while on a short vacation getaway I searched for a Hobbytown nearby as I was planning on starting a new hobby with RC cars. The nearest location was in Evansville Indiana. Took a two hour drive and purchased a new RC car. Having no knowledge of RC cars etc I asked the salesman if I was buying the correct batteries and charger for the new car I was purchasing. I was told yes! I Brought the items home which was 7 hours away and come to find that I was sold incompatable batteries and charger!!! How aggravating!! NOW regarding the Schaumburg store...I brought the two batteries and charger to their store to rectify the mistake made in Indiana. When I got there I was told that the products were incompatible and that they do not carry the same products. Now one would think that the two franchises would carry the same products but NOOOOO. They wanted to sell me different batteries and chargers. While being extremely aggravated at the service recieved by both stores I was told by the Schaumburg store owner " I should not be angry because people make mistakes! My reply was that this was a great inconvenience as the Indiana store is more than 350 miles from Schaumburg!!". The owner shrugged her shoulders and said she could not do anything else as they are all independent franchises. Now, I have a $150.00 gift card that I received for x mas that I am sure she would have accepted! Needless to say I will be contacting corporate offices about both locations and will NEVER go to a Hobby Town again! Buyer beware!!!!👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
Response to owner...Your customer service is poor at the very least. You treat people poorly as indicated by the several other reviews stating so. My business will go elsewhere just because of your poor attitude. Buyer beware of St Charles store too! If you wanted my business I think you could have offered me better options than telling me to go back to Indiana. I know they sold me the wrong parts but you treated me just as poorly. There are plenty of other franchises that will honor products from within the franchise stores. Instead of basically telling me I am out of luck.PS I have not reviewed Evansville yet because I am going to call them tomorrow and will review them based on that phone call and their previous error.
Oh please! There were 5 at the very most other customers in your store Don't flatter yourself! Your response is just an example of the person you are. Welcome to customer service and business ownership! II guess the customer is always right motto does not apply to you.

I fully understand that the Indiana store sold us the wrong parts. Since our unpleasant experience with you I have spoken with the Indiana store as well as the Northbrook Hobby town. Both locations were much more polite and helpful than you were. They were very sympathetic to the situation. They both helped correct the error. Unlike you just shrugging your shoulders and saying oh well. I never barked at you I expressed the fact that it was an inconvenience and hoped you could help me out. Not just tell me to buy new parts from you. The Northbrook store owner went above and beyond to try to rectify the situation for me. I fully stand by my original statement to the public to avoid both your stores in fear they get treated poorly by you as I did. Hopefully you learn to be more respectful to people that intend to do business with you. My $150.00 gift card will be used at the Northbrook location. Read moreI came in 8/22/25 at 5:30pm to look for a charger for my 4s battery and possibly even buy a nice rc buggy id been eyeing online so i ask for help to find the charger I need and instantly the two guys there wanted to tell me nope we dont have it after just admitting they dont even know what a 4s port is. I say alright just let me look at the chargers myself and then dude shows me where they are and pulls out a charger that literally has a port right on it for the 4s battery and as im pointing at the exact port he proceeds to tell me nope we dont have it this charger only works for this specific port (and then points at only one of the 4 different port options available on that specific charging station, ignoring the one im pointing at). I then showed him a picture of the exact battery i needed to charge and he goes "no you can only get that charger off amazon". Just super short with me it genuinely felt like the two guys there agreed next person that comes in no matter what they want just say nah we dont have it. After i just made a 30 minute drive to the store and its like im being rushed out. I was nearly certain just at a glance you guys had exactly what I needed but im not gonna buy it with bro over my shoulder just saying nope that wont work for you nope we dont have it. Didn't even wanna look at the rest of the store after that just rude to me for no reason whatsoever both carried a heavy "i dont wanna be here" attitude. Of course i look it up later when I get home and yeah the exact charging station i needed you guys have in store at this exact location and I literally saw it in the display stand. Thanks for wasting my time today I wont come back.
Yes I had some confusion, my apologies I am new to this hobby. However, either I could have got an adapter (which you guys have in stock, i posted a new picture) for that exact charging station, or I could have gotten the EcoPower Electron Mini charger, which has an xt60 output. You guys had what I needed, (I mean you basically have an option in stock for just about every rc battery under the sun at your store) just seemed like you werent willing to give me the time. It's a 1 hour round trip drive for me and I came home empty handed...
Read moreHorrible customer service and don't stand behind their products. Once you buy, you're out of luck - even with a receipt. We bought one of the radio controlled helicopters - not cheap. After thoroughly reading the instructions, we flew it. It went up in the air two times and then stopped for no reason. Changed the batteries and still nothing. We took it back to the store. They said that we needed to turn the radio on first (which we did) and then hook up the battery. So, we took it back home. Next time we flew, the same thing happened. It flies for a couple of times and then dies unexpectedly. So, we took it back to the store. We tried to explain why it didn't work and the two not-so-bright employees at the front (with whom we spoke with before) didn't bother to listen to the entire story as to why the helicopter didn't work. Instead they kept saying how we must not have started it correctly or we didn't have some bar on the top correct... one excuse after another. It started up in the store, which we told them over and over again that we could get it started, but it wouldn't stay flying. They kept ignoring that fact. So I said you fly it and see that it doesn't work and the man who's been telling us how to fly it says he doesn't know how to fly the helicopter. They would not take the helicopter back or let us exchange it for another or even store credit. I find this absolutely absurd that a customer spends several hundred dollars and they have no recourse when they are unsatisfied with a product that they've had for just two weeks and it has only worked for a total of three minutes.
I'll never shop here again and I will tell anyone and everyone I know not to purchase anything here. I bought two more models that I plan to return because I don't want the store to have any more of my money than what I...
