My Halal Meat — Attraction in Schaumburg Township

So just a little bit of a warning, this review might be lengthy! My apologies

Short review : Yes! I approve of this meat shop!

UPDATE: After purchasing the meat here two times, I stopped going to Chicago-Devon st completely! The meat is excellent here! Best chicken and beef in the area. Very fresh and expert butcher skills!!!

A bit about myself, I have been the go-getter of my family since I was at the age where I couldn't even lift 5kgs(approx.10lbs) of meat on my own. I have butchered several animals such as cows, sheep, deer, chickens, rabbits myself in India and USA combined. I love meat and I know my meat when it comes to quality and how to cut it right way and prepare it the right way so it stays soft when cooked and not chewy and rubbery. So just a little bit of my background. Been basically buying meat for the last 30 plus years which is half here and half back home.

Now usually I buy my meat from the city for the simple fact that it's cheaper there and no doubt we all are aware of this. It may be a small difference in prices but if you're buying a small amount then it's not worth the drive from suburbs to the city. But if you buy in bulk then sure it comes with a cost of not being so fresh at the end of the month but it's what we do to keep it affordable I guess. So when I was running out meat and wanted to not drive all the way to the city I ordered from here and I was honestly a bit skeptical at first after reading some of these reviews with 1 star and I take reviews to be very well thoughtful and biased. But I decided to take a chance and I ordered over the phone and a very polite gentlemen named Adnan answered and took my order and told me around 45 mins wait time! Acceptable as it's the weekend and my order was a little bit medium size....

I arrived on time or rather a few minutes earlier than 45 minutes and my order was still ready and again he greeted me politely and grabbed my order from the fridge. The store looks amazing and smelled clean and looked very well kept and maintained. I must say it was way better than the city store I go to and here comes the part where I am giving this much details to the review. I was slightly shocked how good the meat tasted. Maybe this might become my to go store starting now as I am very selective of my meat cuts and quality and this place delivered and met and exceeded my expectations!

I literally waited till the food was made and I had to really taste the meat before I decided to write the review even though I could just tell the meat looked and smell fresh and I had a positive experience. In fact, I was looking for a reason to take one star away but with all honesty the prices are fair for suburbs and the quality is almost better than the city place I go to! Can't beat this 12 mins drive to the shop from where I live.

This is to highlight a real bad experience today I had with the goat meat I bought from this store and owner's worst attitude -

Placed an order (for 6Lbs) with clear instructions saying, if its not fresh then I can come some other time. After started cooking, it took forever (almost over 1-1/2 hr) to cook meat and still couldn't bring it to normal chewable form hence had to thrash it Next day I took uncooked/remaining (returning 3Lbs) meat complaining about the meat hardness and unable to chew it. This is what owner has to say - You may not know how to cook it or you din't cook properly asked all vague info - did you put tomatoes?, put less/no water? put onions? to prove his side Customer Service Nightmare - One of the worst candidate have no respect towards customers - Refund only for the ones I returned - When I asked for a reason, (with an attitude) saying refund for what I returned. He was asking me to bring the one that I already cooked for total refund to prove that am not lying.

Dear Owner, please have some respect for customers. If someone took time to drop off for some bad experience (customers have no joy in making trips to your store), we should respect their time and value their words instead displaying rough attitude, rudeness and...

The People who manage are sweet talkers and this is how they are in business, I had bad experience twice and I am not fooling my self third time. Mainly they do not give you correct information. (This is how I felt) Once I had bought the Fish and requested to have 3/4 inch cut and the guy said no problem. Came home and saw the cuts were 1/4 inch. Called him and complaint and that the time he says that Oh we had the Pre cuts and nothing he could do. I had guest coming over, I had run to Devon area and get the right stuff. Second time we bought the Goat and request to have small pieces. Once again I am not sure how the butcher was thinking none the pieces were small. Not only that but I think the butcher is just street guy and has no Idea of How to cut meat properly. I am going back to Devon area rather spent few hours than my money at this place. Will...
